Forums - Sales - PS3 production costs decreasing 70%... does that mean it's profitable?

70% less yen is 70% less American dollars.. did you seriously think there was a difference?

Read the OP again, and open the links... we're comparing 2006 yen with 2009 yen.

@XXain: Interesting, I guess we'll have to wait for the next financial report... in the last one they implied they're still losing money on gaming:

It depends on what they are comparing that 70% to.

Tease.

The said the Ps3 was profitable if you include the SW and periphs of it.

That's pretty weird considering financial reports have been suggesting otherwise.

lol... you really don't understand why?

No, when financial reports state that a company is losing money I usually take it face value.

I'll give yu a clue... look at expenses.... versus.... income.

The same article that said the cost had dropped 70% also said it still cost about $400 to make. Therefore, Sony is not making a profit at the $299 price point.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

oh please... the CFO never said it cost 400 to make. And Sony wouldn't go back to losing $100+ on each one sold.

I'd rather look at profit/loss charts where Sony has consistently posted losses the last times I checked... How does expenses versus income matter more than profit?

What expense. did Sony have. That wasn't creating income.
