I don't think theres much past precedent can really inform us about this generation. If this generation hasn't broken a rule, its bent it at least.

This. Exactly, this is what i was going to say. I am 98% sure that PS3 will outsell 360 on an average weekly sales but still it will not catch up to the 360 for total consoles sold worldwide. But yeah it is not likely that PS3 will outsell the wii as already with a cheaper hd console available (arcade 360) the wii is still outselling..by a large margin

200k * 52 weeks is 10M consoles sold, which is around what they have sold every year since launch. Im wondering, intentional or do you mean more than 10M sales which includes extra for holidays?

amazon.co.uk is different, the UK is a very small region, its much more reliable to just go to GAME.
PS3 is sold out here.. they have no 80gb left. sold 30 160gbs yesterday with a uncharted+kz2+mgs4+LBP bundle (399$ CAD)

Yeah, if price mattered as much as Sony fanboys would have you believe the Xbox 360 would be beating the Wii with no problems.

Why stop there?
No console has ever been able to store as much porn as the PS3.
No handheld has ever sold as much in 1st place.
No handheld has ever sold as much as 2nd place.
No cellphone has ever been considered a viable gaming platform.

The PS3 will certainly get a boost in the upcoming weeks... maybe even a huge one if many Sony fans decide to sell their fat PS3s to buy the Slim, and depending on how many people were holding out for the $299 price obviously.
But as always, what matters is not the initial boost, but the continued momentum. Does the price cut convince a whole new demographic to buy the PS3? I don't think so, not any more than the previous price cuts did.
The mainstream console is the Wii, and that's not gonna change with a simple PS3 price cut. Software is where it's at.

No i think 3rd place is where they will stay. The will still sell good though.
