What does a political decision or opinion have to do with the way someone buys a game which is art? Why would someone not buy a game because the writer has a different view on homosexuals?

Weird and totally weird I say and if this one specific person wants to hold out on some good games just because he thinks the writers or developers are talking about homosexuality and he doesn't agree and doesn't buy the game. So be it, but boycotting a game because he doesn't agree with a person's political views is nonsense.

Also, why are far right and far left zealots so often used to characterize an entire party?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

This article makes me want to buy this game more now. I hate when political BS gets thrown into the gaming world for no reason. Like racism in Resident evil 5 and then claiming racism in L4D 2 this is getting rediculous. As long as there isnt gay bashing and real racism going on then most of these people need to STFU. 99% of people dont know and they dont give a damn who makes the game as long as its good. And as long as it isnt blatantly racist or homophobic who gives a damn. enjoy the game.

Political correctness is the ultimate hipocrasy. It is simply the belief that everyone should share the same belief on certain subjects, regardless of their faith or upbringing.

The irony, is that the belief we all should supposedly share is that we should respect other peoples beliefs, no matter how different they are from our own.

See the catch 22 there?

We respect people for being PC, and flame them for believing differently than our predetermined PC rhetoric. Ironically, in doing so, we are not being PC ourselves, because we are supposed to respect other peoples beliefs above all else.

Anyway, obviously, this game is popular, so Card's opponents will use it as a striking point against him. I've never heard of Care before now. That said, PC hipocrasy and secular-progressivism in general piss me off, so I'm much more likely to buy two copies of this now, just to make one of their votes not count.

I'm a prick like that.

The gaming world is popular, people do it because it gets them attention. Everyone, secretly, deep down, are interesting in gaming. Even the people who think it's a waste of time, often wonder about that mysterious world they will never be a part of.

Dude, there should be more homophobic members of the Church of Latter-day Saints getting involved on some level with gaming. I'll take that trade off to get some more awesome games like Shadow Complex. The game is so good, I wouldn't care if Hitler made it. (@ PullusPardus).

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Oh well ill still get this.

I don't even care what anyone thinks about this dumb debate....Card was hired for his ability to write not his views...the game is not based on Card's work..Card was hired to write about the Game Universe....
Boycotting this because Card is not on your political side is Epic Fail...

That's subjective of course... you should have left the title as a question rather than a statement in my opinion... if your goal was to stimulate a friendly, non-hostile, discussion...

I made the tittle what it was becuase this game has nothing to do with with Wong's Agenda or Cards's Agenda...But Wong's agenda is refusing to pay 1200 ms points for this game due to association with Card...Wong is trying to get people not to buy the game...And stand with him on his political views...just becuase Card's political views are agaisnt him... it's Epic Fail...Card is not using this game to get people to take his side on his political agenda....Wong is...

Wong is not trying to get people to do that for the game. You may want to actually read the article first before preaching to others.

I think the main problem is people often confuse "intolerance" with "conviction" If Card has written a thesis on the denouncing of homosexuals amongst the church that is a big part of his value and beliefs in life. To homosexuals or people who value that cause greatly, they view this man as a bad person. Card believe homosexuals should not have rights.....his belief is internal and part of his whole, it is his existance. That is what a belief is, it is as much a part of us as our soul. So for another human being who is trying to be openly oppressed or feels those close to him are being oppressed byt his man it is entirely appropriate to not support the works of this man and help him on his quest to oppressing what they believe is right.

You may not understand, there is a huge difference between practicing tolerance and standing up to intolerance. I have found most people that dont understand that difference often cant comprehend what its like to live a life for a cause.

"Kim Wong refuses to buy the new Xbox 360 game Shadow Complex. Revolted by the political views of a novelist associated with the game, the 27-year old gamer's conscience holds him back. But there's another side to the story."
