It doesn't make much sense when you're comparing the whole amount of bad games when you have the percentages right next to it.

And I personally don't think that any of them will change dramatically.

What do you mean? I'm saying that the Wii doesn't have a shovelware problem. It's problem is that it doesn't have much to balance that shovelware with. The 360, PS2, and PS1 has/had something to balance it's shovelware with, unlike the Wii at this point in time. Seeing that about half of the green games on Wii have been released in the last year, I would say that things will change. Especially when there is probably around 5 more guaranteed green games this year(much more than last), and probably around 10-20 next year. The reason why I compared number of games though was because the post I was replying to was comparing such.

soooo like I was saying the Wii has a shovelware problem.

No it has a support problem. The shovelware is at the same levels as other consoles. The other consoles have better support though so it isn't recognized as much. The Wii on the other hand, up until now, hasn't had as much support.

I think you embarrass you self more with posting this. Any form of entertainment to embed or become part of society needs to penetrate all levels of age, race, genders. Your display of intolerance towards crap software really shows that you don't want gaming to continue and instead hold it as a perfect gem of memory.

It's like saying that books can only be for 12-24 years old and be written by writers like Rowling, Herbet, King. Truth is books are written for all ages and range in all qaulities, but we don't question anyof this because they are books. Well someday I want to see VG viewed the same way as we see books. How about you?

REALLY! So in order for a console to apeal to all levels of age, race, and genders it must have shovelware. Wow then I guess the Super Nintendo must have sucked. Umm there are games that can appeal to kids without being crap, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, the upcoming Rabbids Go Home.

As for your comparison with video games and books, irrelevant. There aren't 'shovelware books'. There's famous authors and just, well, many non-famous ones that write.

You think the SNES didn't have shovelware? ROFFLE!

Were you born after 1996?

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

nope, shovelware is part of the games business, there is a market for it and there is money to be made, the day shovelware disappears is when consumers stop buying it, Hell will have to freeze over before we see that ever happen.

Wii is hardly in the same position as Atari, mostly because it has and is getting worthwhile releases this year and because Nintendo is not preparing to fart out their own version of E.T. Anyone who thinks they are even remotely in the same boat is out of touch with reality.

Also I doubt games like Petz are hurting the Wii as a brand when those same games can be found on practically every platform on the market. If anything they're "hurting" the developers making millions off the people that continue to buy them.

your argument is as coherent as "It isnt, because i dont want it to!"

Nope, they´re hurting the wii brand, yes.

Cause the PS3 and Xbox have their own casual crappy games, sure.

But the wii has 10x more.

When the consumer buy these games and realize they suck, that´s dissapointment.

When the consumer buy these games for the second time, that´s hate. Hate for the brand.

"Stupid consumer! He should buy Zack and Wiki instead!"

How?

How the regular people can see the difference, by box art alone?

You have a full shelf of games ahead of you. All featuring colored boxes and fancy names. How can you tell which one is the best?

"The stupid consumer should look up at the internet and find out which one are good games!!!"

Yeah, but that´s a bold move! That´s a research job that the regular consumer dont belive he/she should have. At least, not for videogames.

Videogames are supposed to be just chose, play, have fun/keep your kids quiet.

Not a trouble on itself.

We, forum posters, blog readers, we have on us that our hobby is to play games and read about em. We know the stuff, in and out. But the new market dont know anything. And dont want to get a degree in gaming just to play.

Every game represents your console brand. If the vast marjority of these games gives the player a bad impression, you are in trouble.

This is pretty funny...

I went to EBGames yesterday thinking I would get a Wii title to add to my collection. After looking at the shelves for 5 minutes, I concluded that next time I go Wii shopping it should start with some Internet investigation of reviews, and then once I know a list of what I want, go to the store, and start trying to find it in the pile.

There is no way I will go to the Wii section unless I have specific titles in mind.

The Wii is extremely popular amongst casuals gamers so we can expect many more shovelware titles for the entire life of the Wii.

I dont really care, i mean shovelware doesnt sell well on the Wii anyway.

Sarcasm, right?

The problem is, its not so much Shovelware, as it is games designed for very different audiences. Like the Imagine series - it was never meant for teen males or adults - its aimed at young girls. For some girls, Metroid and Zelda just dont interest them, so a different market has to be catered to.

It is interesting, as the Wii is one of the first consoles in a while that was widely shared by such a diverse audience.

Think of it in terms of music - Your 8 year old sister has a better shot at liking Miley Cyrus than your metal or hip hop mp3s. Just because you dont like it doesnt mean that it doesnt have a market
