Forums - Nintendo - Do you think that wii haters hate the console or Nintendo itself

I think it's more a hatred for Nintendo and it really stems from jealousy. Winners are always very visual to the public eye, up there to be shot at. People love to hate the leader, no matter what industry it/they are in.

ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

^Sony wasn't very hated when they were the leaders. At least no among the gaming press.

I LOVE ICELAND!

The problem is not people hating the wii, it's the fact anything you say that is seen as negative towards the Wii and Nintendo is seen as Hating.

Hrm, I don't think so... there's enough legitimate hate. The sensitivity is an issue for all consoles.

People ignore or dislike the Wii because it has little to no games that interest them. For some, this turns into hate it because it is far more successful than their preferred console. I'm guilty of the latter reason occassionally, so at least it's easy to relate to.

because you don't like something doesnt mean you hate it. Hate is a strong word for a piece of plastic.

Maybe, people doesnt know how to use that word.

But i agree with c0rd, there is legitimate hate toward Nintendo and the Wii around the industry (professionals and customers a like), even though is just a piece of plastic, like you said. It is sad, but it is true.

^lol
yes we are jealous. Jealous that Nintendo loves the expanded audience more than us :P

I've played MadWorld, NMH, Mario Galaxy, SSBB, and a bunch of mini game games. I think I would like the games more with non-motion. It just feels gimicky.

They mostly hate the Wii, because the majority of posters are Sony fans. The Wii has displaced the PS brand, and still has a chance of outselling the PS LTD down the road. Sony fans are extremely loyal, sort of like Kamikaze soldiers to Japan, and would do anything to make sure their console is #1. The Wii makes this impossible, so any little bit of news against the Wii and/or Nintendo (See the thread on Nintendo stock falling) and they're all over it.

If you don't believe that the majority of fans are Sony fans, check out the result of the polls.

Hmm, coincidently Sony was the first console company to advertise a new form of cultural movement in videogames too. They have alot of money and it went to the gaming press for over a decade.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I think it has more to do with their hatred with Nintendo because they are secretive and refuse to conform.

Hate is such a strong word and strong feeling it shouldnt be associated with something as silly as gaming.

Nintendo saw that the games industry was in trouble and decided to recreate gaming once again, now the games industry is railing against it
