Forums - Nintendo - Namco: Wii can't handle Tekken 6, PSP can.

@axum: It's OK. It's great though that you realized that the point of the OP was to try and find out a reason for that unnecessary comment the producer made. But many other chose to ignore his words and simply went on with their own arguements.

They could bundle it with the game just like they did with Monster Hunter 3 i think its a nice strategy

Nintendo is the best videogames company ever!

"and u think its realistic for namco to expect every wii owner who doesn't have a classic controller to just shell out $20."

Wrong. You're pretending that's what's needed to discredit this. The game would have to be expecting 100% attach rate for that.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

@LordTheNightKnight

whatever dude. u got ur opinion on this and i got mine. i was just trying to look at this whole situation through namco's view before blasting them and turning this into a one sided discussion about why they suck

@elmerion
i think the MH controller bundle did really well because of MH's immense popularity in Japan, tekken is nowhere near as popular as MH is anywhere in the world so i wouldn't really expect the same results

Maybe Namco could of asked to be packed in with a game.

You know like this.

Since Wii fit is one of the most selling games, ever.  I guess it shows the Wii install base is willing to throw down the extra cash for more.

So we have the system with the biggest install base, buys the most software for fighting games, as well buy software with extra controllers.

So the reason why namco port the game to the Wii is because?

@Dinomax

okay dude... u kinda need to lighten up on the pics. plus did u not read my last post, i sorta gave a reason why a bundle like the MH one would work and why i think a tekken bundle wouldn't.  i think a lot of the examples u used were able to sell because they catered to the wiis mass audience or offered something completely different than what they would normally play.  i just don't think a tekken 6 bundle would fall into either of these catergories. but like i said before..... its just my opinion.

Animefobber, you do realize that the PS3/360 Tekken 6 bundle is $150 right?

I would pre-order that bundle if I knew it was either full sanwa or completely moddable.

@Darc Requiem

yes but unlike the wii nunchuck we know that the original controllers provided with the ps3 and 360 will definitely suffice. buying an arcade stick is just if u wanna go nuts. i remember someone cited earlier a review saying the wii version of guilty gear was really hard to play without a classic controller and there are other review sites that claim the same thing so u can't exactly say the claim is pure bs.

Here's a quote from IGN's Guilty Gear XX Wii review.

"But using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck is terrible. Accent Core is a member of a long line of extremely fast 2D fighters, and you don't use motion controls for those types of games. It just doesn't work. The only way to get around it is to use the buttons instead, which means that you use the joystick to move (which is tragically inaccurate, especially when dashing) and the Wii Remote's D-Pad for inputting attacks. Left, down, up and right are punch, kick, slash and heavy slash, respectively. No. This will not work either. It's uncomfortable and clumsy, and it ruins the game.

On the other hand, using the motion controls is almost worse, because it not only throws the accuracy of your interface completely out the window, but it starts damaging the actual fighting mechanics, too. For example, swinging the Wii Remote lightly will execute a slash attack, while swinging it fiercely will do a heavy slash (how are we to execute advanced combos like that?). And to do Special Moves, you hold down either C or Z and swing the Wii Remote or the Nunchuck. That's it. The techniques that should take time and skill can be accomplished by waving your hands.

The default controls are terrible, and truly ruin a fun experience. If you have the Classic Controller though, you're basically getting the PS2 experience which is a great time."

Score: 5.9

Tekken 6 on Wii would be the exact same situation. They could make a Wii version, but it would get slammed by reviewers and probably sell <500k. Would it really be worth it?

Don't bother. I've written like 5-8 posts in this thread all explaining why it wouldn't work poorly and all i've seen is ignorance in replies ignoring completely the points while countering with things i've already explained why they aren't viable. And excuses. It doesn't matter. They're just gonna keep on whining about it.
