just shipped, arrives on friday, but i'll get it by sept 17th 'cause i'm from ecuador.... that makes me the most jealous person in here XD
Then I probably shouldn't tell you I've been playing it since the 18th.
The rEVOLution is not being televised
Played through the space station part of MP1. Very cool, but did anyone else notice they cut off the top and bottom of the cutscenes to make it widescreen?
Kind of annoying as it looks strange someplaces, like only seeing half of Samus' helmet etc, but I guess it was easier for Retro to do it this way...
Retro zoomed in on cutscenes and cropped the top and bottom for the 'faux' widescreen modes. In certain scenes its terrible obvious, but during gameplay you wont notice it at all.
What really bothers me is that when playing with less than 4 players, the game runs the multiplayer with sidebars.
Voltaire: I haven't tried this, but if you set your Wii to 4:3, does it not cut the scenes?

Id guess not, but i perfer to have the occasional wonky cutscene rather than a stretch 4:3 mode.

Who said anything about stretch? I would set the tv to 4:3 as well. Letterbox! I would actually prefer the original 4:3-presentation to a half-assed 16:9 mode. But we'll see when I get further into the game if it really bothers me.
Also, I am sure I am not the only one who finds the switching of visors less intuitive with Wii control scheme than GC control scheme. It is the same as in MP3, but it really proves Nintendo oversimplified the Wiimote a little, a few more buttons would have been nice...
Of course pointer control is far superior to the analog stick aiming on the 'cube, but I gotta say Retro really utilized the GC controller to the max. I do expect boss fights etc to be much eaiser now tho, with free aim lock on. But we will see :)
Oh, and it is still awesome. If you haven't bought it, go now!
Just got mine today with the poster and shirt. Gamestop said they didn't receive it in the shipment yesterday. Love the case!
@ksv: I also had to adjust to the visor controls. But the sacrifice is small for pointer controls.

I actually dont have any problem with swapping visors. Its the swapping beams that took a while. Its harder to press the + buttom in combat over the - . By the time i got the Ice Beam it was fine though.
The 16:9 mode is only odd during cutscenes. Gameplay is fine.
