Yeah, not quite sure how you expect the PS3 slim to get to PS2 slim size when it's got an HDD inside. The one way to reduce the size further by a substantial amount is external power brick. Do that and it could almost start rivaling Wii for size.

PS3 wins in one department at least, it's the best looking console out of the 3. Be it Phat or Slim, they both blow the looks of the others away. Too bad the console wars aren't a beauty contest.

If you put a power supply into a net-book in place of their battery they'd still be tiny even though they have a hard-drive, keyboard and monitor taking up space ... Realistically, the internal components of the PS3 are much more inline in size and cost to what we would typically see from a console at launch.

I think the bolded is something that a lot of people are overlooking this gen. I believe 100% that the fact that the Wii is the smallest, least intrusive console of the three (with the PS3 being the most intrusive, less so now with the slim) has had a huge impact on it's penetration into the casual market. It IS cute, no less than 5 women I know have said it. I would say that if the wars were a beauty contest, it would still be exactly like it is now but with the Wii even farther ahead.
