Forums - Gaming - Capcom: It might be worthwhile for us to work on MH3 for PS3/360

Capcom producer Ryozo Tsujimoto hasn’t quite ruled out the possibility of Monster Hunter 3 jumping ship from the Wii to the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Speaking at GamesCom, the producer said that if it was a “worthwhile” challenge, it might happen.

“We haven’t thought about it yet.”

“We’ve been asked that a lot. As creators, we want to be challenged. If that challenge would be worthwhile for us to work on in the future, then probably,” said Tsujimoto.

But for now, he’s quite content with the game being on the Wii.

Having said that, at the moment, I like working with the Nunchuk and the Wiimote quite a lot. Actually, a lot of the R&D guys told me that you can’t go back to using the classic controller because it feels rigid. We’re very happy with Tri. If there’s a new challenge on a different console, we’ll consider [it].”

Game’s out now in Japan. It’s coming to the West early next year.

Unfortunately, the producer of a game has no say in platform. Now if the CEO of Capcom said this, it might have some weight. They are like team leads - they are to make sure that the team is working on the game and according to their vision. The choice of platform is left to the ones funding the game, which in this case are Capcom Inc, aka the CEO and his board of members.

Didn't they have a PS3 version of MH3 in development, but then shut it down because it "wasn't worth it financially" and it was to "hard to program" for the PS3?

^^^ Initially it was set as a PS3 exclusive

Seems to be the trend of the day, to proclaim that your Wii exclusive "could," go to PS360.

Possibly an expansion, or another version (like a G3 or something), but not the game itself, i don't think.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

lol, like it would actually sell better on ps360 XD

"you can’t go back to using the classic controller because it feels rigid"
then why on earth Nintendo and Capcom developed the Classic Controller Pro for MH3?

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo
