Now that the slim is about to release in a couple of weeks, will Sony keep manufacturing the current PS3 model or will they discontinue it?

No. They've already stated that production has stopped. The only time SONY will produce phats are for development purposes.

Ouch so they really abandon the phat PS3 ?

*facepalm*

Now I fear that Microsoft will do the same thing with the 360. I hope they'll find a way to keep both versions simultaniously in retail stores.
