Sorry. Can't answer that because I would be banned if I did that.
So, Nintendo fans love saying "Hah! Nintendo is outselling both HD consoles combined!" but others can't say that "Hah! The HD consoles are outselling the Wii!"
What's the difference?
Lots of sour grapes in here.

It's always much easier to make money if you have little competition. The more competition you get, the more your product has to appeal to your potential customers. So more developers making quick cash-ins means every developer needs to work harder on their quick cash-in to make a profit.
Look at PopCap Games, for instance. The PC platform had casual players long before the consoles did. The competition there is such that you just simply cannot release any crap and expect to walk away with a massive profit. Yet PopCap Games release one massive hit after another. How can that be? Quality and appeal, I believe would be the answer. The games are good and they really appeal to people.
We'll get there on consoles as well, in the future. Don't worry.

yeah that's fair. compare 4 systems with 3 systems |
Ok I will compare 2 systems vs. 3 systems instead : Wii + DS > PS3 + PSP + X360. But that's unfair... I know!

Well, the second statement is untrue. The HD twins are not outselling the Wii. They do have a higher installbase, though.

By and large, yes. But they did outsell it for a few weeks and probably will for the rest of the year with both the 360 and PS3 getting price drops. My point still stands though, its one of those Vgchartz arguments that seem only to go one way for some reason.

I'd say it's pretty much because of the 2 vs 1 thing. Two big strong guys beating up a tiny one isn't really something you gloat about, while if that tiny guy kicks the shit out of the big dudes there will be lots of gloating.

I can't really argue with that but this gen has seen a kind of HD grouping versus non-HD grouping. It is a tremedous achievement to outsell two competitors combined (at least it used to) but it is relevant for the marketshare to count both in some cases. All three consoles should, naturally, be counted individually and there's no way of spinning away the truth; the Wii has a massive lead and nothing save for the hand of God can make a big difference at this point.

You make it sound like the big N did have 50% market share, but they have not.
But it has been getting there as 49% is the high water mark.
So the big N still might "beated" the hd twins.
By the way nintendo came in 3rd last gen against 2 other systems, i didn't realize that nintendo had to beat the combined sales of 2 other systems to win this gen.
Bulls.t aside nintendo has a lock on this gen so deal with it hd babys
