| Distant Star said: Maybe Nintendo and Microsoft are putting more effort into BC. This doesn't mean their BC is perfect, again software emulation takes a lot of time. In the end PS2 games will be BC as for all Xbox games. So if it takes time to have good BC, don't bother waiting. Buy a PS3 and play PS1 and PS3 games. When PS4 is released you will be able to PS2 games. I also believe that BC is a psychological issue. It makes gamers comfortable knowing that they still can play their old games. While hardly anyone does. BC is still a great feature, although it's the last feature on a "to do list". You're making gamers happy for the reason above. And offer a solution for the hassle of hooking up your PS2, less space is needed and it's great if your PS2 has died. Again BC is a great feature, "but I'm not going to buy a PS3 because it hasn't BC". It feels like only PS2 games justify purchasing a PS3. What about PS3 games? Sony has to improve, but gamers have to clear their minds. They have a PS2 library and yet they don't want to buy a PS3 they know what it's capable of. This is my analysis: You wait and BC doesn't come.. so no PS3 for you or just buy it but keep your PS2 games because eventually... Here is a list of BC for Xbox 360: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360 If you don't mind some glitches. |
Man, you are missing the point. Sony was the one who called BC a 'core value.' Do you understand that? It was a tenet of the PS brand. The PS2 had it - and gave PS1 owners a reason to choose the PS over the Xbox. This generation, Sony axes it to make folks get off the pot. That's sad because there are about 125M potential customers that you just said 'You buy it - get a second job - and accept what we have. GRADUATE.'
That's harsh - and folks are still buying the PS3 thinking they have BC. Sony said it - we didn't. And to think that folks aren't interested in it doesn't matter. You need to move systems - you want to give folks as many reasons to buy your more expensive system (before the price cut) over the competition. And folks weren't fooled.
Some folks will never use the function, but others will. I myself played PS1 titles on my PS2, and would definitely enjoy playing PS2 titles on my PS3. You can't give a cold shoulder to gamers and expect them not to react. You want to sell systems - and if leaving the feature in wins some, go for the win.
What, son, what? New York, New York!!!
