Sony hasn't announced plans for BC. They want folks to buy another PS2 to play their games - and a PS3 for BR and PS3 gamers. Problem is - the recession is making folks look long and hard at their choices. Folks could lose their jobs in a heartbeat. And you have a shiny new PS3 looking back at you - and you can't hustle and get rent. $299 is still not an impulse buy. You have to plan for a purchase like that - unless you have money to burn, a credit card or the like. For some folks it's not that serious. Skip the PS3 because of no BC? Maybe. For gamers with huge libraries of PS2 games, they are facing buying another PS2 - and then buy a PS3. That's $399. As far as the disasters with the 360 - it's still outselling the PS3, right? They still built an 8M lead on the PS3, right? And they are still trucking. HD-DVD was a failure because of the studios, not MS's decision. And it was a sidenote at best. |
No sony has't announced it, and it's also not in favor of their economic model. Why do you wait for BC if you know this? People that have trouble paying their rent I will advice not to buy any console. Even a $200 will be too much.
Why 360 is selling out PS3 is because their headstart (games) and their lower price. I believe that Microsoft did know that selling HD-DVD addon was a dead horse. It just worked in their favor against Sony. Unfortunatly some 360 gamers "believed" Microsoft and have bought a worthless addon.
The majority doesn't care about BC so the PS3 will sell. Micrsoft is very afraid how many times did they drop their price already?
Anyway this is getting of topic.
