Forums - Microsoft - What do think of episodic gaming?

^You reversed it. It was yesterday I allowed myself to be quoted.

eventually it will be a way for them to charge more money for a product.

Agreed.  I can see MS charging 800 ms points ($10) for each episodic content, and they would probably split most games into 5 parts.  So you would end up paying $40-50 for a game that should be priced lower.  Those bastards.

Well, at least what they're doing with Fable II doesn't seem too far off with what they do with trials of XBLA titles, or at least it doesn't to me.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

If the first part is always free (Fable 2), then it's a great idea

What's exactly Fable 2 episodic adventure? I dont understand, are they re-releasing the game on XBL but it's cut into 5 pieces?

No opinion, but i'd rather buy everything at once to get it over with.

episodic games aren't anything new. Basically any kind of game that gets direct sequals is episodic. However, I think it is a bad idea to re-release games in smaller chunks, especially fable 2. It was small enough as it is.

They pinacle of episodic gaming for me is still shining force 3. Still waiting for the second 2 scenario's to release stateside....

Yep.  The first episode is free, when you get to the next episode in the game it will ask you to purchase it.  You can buy a season pass to be able to play the rest of the game.  What could be interesting, is if they offer this season pass for all games to be played on Games on Demand.

its ok, they did this with siren blood curse, but its better to get the whole game in one

I hate episodic gaming and DLC.

I don't mind extentions being DLC ( Fallout, GTA, last gear update), although it's probably overpriced considering the content to price ratio, but mappacks, songs, costumes, items, single dungeons...yuck, that's just abusive!

I would just feel ripped off if I bought episodic content...I might consider the bundle at the end though (and for cheaper).

and to relate to what rol said: I really want to buy FFIV wiware... still haven't done it cause of the episodic part...
