Forums - Gaming - Best Naruto Game (for me)

OK, I'll be blunt and to the point. I have all three consoles, and I'm not talking about handheld games. I want to buy a Naruto game.

The Naruto game that was extremely fun to me was Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4. I recently sold it because my AR broke for a third time and I did not feel like buying another. However, I have a real urge to play a Naruto game... I know that CoN:R2 was supossed to be GNT:4 for the Wii, but from what I've heard it pretty much sucks (lack of characters, Filler characters, ect.) I have heard that (and played to a small extent) the XBOX360 Naruto games are utter crap. What I really like in my Naruto Fighting games:

- Main focus is a fighting game. Side things are OK, but I don't want an adventure game with fighting on the side.
- 3D fights, not 2D. This is a must.
- GNT4-style challenges are kinda fun, but trophies/achievements are similarly fun.
- Multiplayer, the more players the better.
- Online play would be nice.
- There HAS to be a Kyuubi Naruto, OTK form preferred.
- Sasuke must be a playable character
- Kakashi must be a playable character
- Good graphics are nice, as I heard UNS has REALLY good ones
- I don't mind learning a new control scheme (even Wii), and options are good, but I'm not too fond of just plain waggle
- I like LOTS of characters.
- I HATE filler characters
- I like Zabuza and Haku as playable characters, even if Kisami is a Zabuza clone
- I like it better when the games stick to the storyline
- I DON'T like it when the finishing moves are over-the-top (like in Accel 2)
- I like to be as caught up with the Japanese versions as possible, but I don't like the removal of old characters (as referenced above)
- I don't want to buy a game, then have the sequel come out really soon.

I know it is impossible to fit this criterea, but can someone point me to the one that is closest to what I want? Thanks.

the best on i've played is ultimate ninja 3, the clash of ninja series is to simple. the ninja council ones for the GBA are really good and the RPGs are decent. the only thing i ask in naruto fighting games is that they don't keep taking out character, i hate how in haku doesn't appear in any game of the clash of ninja series after the first one.

Well, you heard (and played to a small extent) wrong

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Agreed the first game is extremely fun just runnning around the town with no loading! Also all the mini missions are awsome I love the Ramen one the most though...

Former something....

From what I've heard, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm (PS3) is the best so far.

I haven't played it so I can't attest to it first-hand.

Well, I heard bad hat about the first one from my cousin, and I played a demo of the second and I didn't really like it. It seemed REALLY limited on the whole "open-world" aspect, and then I hated the whole hand-sign thing... It was really clunky and limited jutsus to where and when...

I'll admit the campaign was weak, but the actual 1-on-1 fighting is a blast.  In the first, at least, I haven't played the second.

GNT are the only Naruto fighting-games that fit your criteria, and most likely the only ones worth a damn.

OK, just re-played the demo for TBB and the demo for UNS...

The fighting system for TBB just seemed... strange... Jumping was made almost useless, and the main way to win was to knock your opponent far away and then do a jutsu on the (unevenly placed) thumbsticks (which all are the same), and then wait for the bars to fill up. Then some jutsus went into really akwardly-controlled first-person minigames (Shikamaru, Orochimaru) that completely killed any seriousness and made me laugh, while others were just cutscenes with buttons, and some were just plain cutscenes. Also, combos are controlled by two buttons. The swap-out feature was nice and somewhat reminiscent of GNT4. Everything just felt kind of akward...

On UNS, although it is criticized for having one main hit button, you can actually end up laying out some somewhat different combos (although STILL very limited) if you try. Stangely enough, for everything that TBB makes a button-push, UNS makes it a combo, and vice-versa. I didn't like the fact that your teammates are helper-only, but they still make combat and combos more interesting. The graphics are AMAZING, but I'm still not used to the PS3 buttons so the finishing moves (which all control relatively similar in execution) were somewhat difficult to get the max value out of. The in-game transformation feature is nice, and once again reminiscent of GNT4, if somewhat different. The use of items seemed strange, but made it slightly more interesting. I didn't like the multi-colored health bars, but I'm sure I'll be able to find out what that's about if I get it...

Unfortunately, neither of those games has 4-Player multiplayer...

So far, I am liking UNS better than TBB by a little... The combo system is weak, but the things that you do that aren't combos are pretty well-implemented... I will look at the roster list for all three games, mabye I'll end up getting UNS and CoN:R3 or 4 eventually... On the plus side, if I buy UNS, there will be no UNS2 for at least a year, because UNA is coming out for PSP...

May give CoN:R3/4 and TBB a rent, but I think I'll probably end up buying N:UNS...

Any last warnings/compliments about the game would still be appreciated...

Thanks

Thanks

^^ in UNS for finishing moves, it doesn't have to be command buttons. You can switch it to mashing the O button or spinning the analogue.
