Forums - Sony - So how will this work with the slim?

I have a MGS 80gig PS3, and love it to death.  But if I ever decided to get the slim to replace it, can I get all my downloaded content on the new PS3.  For example, I have a ton of downloaded games... Will I be able to re-download them on my slim?  Or.. Do I just have to put my old hard drive in the slim?  I am just a little confused on how copy protection works and stuff.

And for the record, I know that my current PS3 has B/C so I probbaly won't be replacing it any time soon.. But just in case. ^^;

you can either back up your data by using an External HDD , OR you can forget about it all and redownload it (your stuff is kept on your account so you can download them again without buying them again)

you just have to log with you account and download all over again (can be done in 5 different console, or something like that)

and if you back it up you can just plug in the External HDD and then go to "Restore Data" or something in the settings

Ok, thanks for the replies. I have a large external hard drive which I used to put in a 320gig hard drive in my ps3 already. But I didn't know that I could re-download everything on a different console. That is awesome thanks.

Just remember if you go the 'download everything' route, your game saves cannot be downloaded.
