On topic of this thread, the definitive answer I think is that MS was desperate to raise flagging sales just before their price cut, which did actually raise sales and allowed them to start outselling PS3 again. Now PS3 has a price cut. From here, we'll see!

You got number 1 wrong, MS is the TRUE genius here, they're raising the price of the Arcade unit so that they can reduce it AGAIN next year and totally steal Sony's thunder without cutting further into their profit margin. Its genius I say genius!
