Forums - Sony - HOLY CRAP Dual Shock 3 is awesome

I know that it's odd for me to post this when the forum's talking about new stuff from GDC XD But I finally got down to getting a new controller (now I have 2, so maybe I can get my mom to play LBP with me. Hopefully her latent Mario and Crash skills will reawaken).

The first game I tried was Battlefield: Bad Company. And even though its production values aren't no where near the likes of Killzone 2, I literally felt my heart thumping as I played the game (with sound blasted too... my mom warned me to not play with loud sounds in college... or play video games at all in college, lol). I was a bit unsure if I wanted to play with rumble on (at least online), but I went from 25:5 K/D to 27:3 in the next round =D

I mean, I've felt a lot of weight without rumble in games like Killzone 2 especially, but even with a game like Bad Company, where there's no feeling of weight at all, instantly DS3 gave an entire new dimension to the game. The rapid rumble of the insanely accurate XM8, the thick, heavy, and luscious feeling I get with the M60. Oh god, I'm just having fun trying out every single gun again to feel their personality even more with rumble.

I really can't wait to play KZ2, LBP, and other games with rumble.

==========================

Do you guys play competitive online play with rumble, or is it a hinderance to you? I could feel myself hesitating a lot more and slowing down my gun's movement with the rumble, but I'm going to assume that it's just me not being used to rumble.

Mhm, though i still prefer the Sixaxis for its lightness, almost forget its there when playing games.

I prefer the DS because it's heavier aswel. Rumble's just a nice plus.

I've only played one game the whole way through with the DS3's rumble and that was MGS4 last year.

I like that the Dualshock 3 has had some changes so the analog sticks feel better than the Sixaxis, but I really don't care about rumble and find that it's more annoying than anything. I hardly feel like it's something worth using. It could be useful as a tactile repsonse for certain things though (rumble when using the menu's with the Wii-mote for example) and don't Baseball games use rumble as a way of selecting options for your next move without alerting the another player to your action?

I hardly feel like it's something worth having outside of a sports game (I hear Baseball games can make use of rumble so you can set up pitches or something without giving away your move).

Are you kidding me?! I had such a blast playing Battlefield tonight. I've never had such an adrenaline rush playing a game, I really felt like I was in a war, the loud sound, the weight of the gun, the violent vibration. I'm thinking of using Sixaxis for online, but still, if I'm just going to have a friendly game, or I'm playing single player, I'm definetly going to put on DS3.

I've had lots of fun in Battlefield Bad Company too. The sounds and everything were great and not something I felt needed rumble to get the most out of.

If I might ask, why would you use the Sixaxis and Dualshock 3 seperatley? You do know you can turn off rumble right?

Do you still have it? I really need to find somebody to play it with. Everyone's on Killzone 2 T.T

Nope, I played the crap out of the demo and then rented it for a month or so with Gamefly. I couldn't stand the single player, but I don't associate a single player story with the Battlefield series so all my time was spent playing online.

It was a lot of fun, but with only 24 players, it made me long for a Battlefield 3 so I could hopefully have some more great moments like I did in Battlefield 2.
