Make it so Crysis 2 doesn't run a 20 fps max (during intense scenes) on a beefy PC and I'll be happy.

LOL, you can always turn AA off.

1680x1050

0XAA

All on "high" w/ motion blur off

20-25fps with explosions --> 8800GT 512mb

That is impressive... Here's me:

1920x1080

4xAA

Very High settings

20-25 fps --> 285 GTX 1GB

The only times the game dips enough to become unplayable is when a lot of those flying alien things shoot their ice machine guns at me.

as soon as the new dx11 cards come out, all the games of this gen will be quite playable :D

They need to make it so we don't have to wait years for a setup capable of playing it at max everything. -_-

I don't see why you're so disappointed - Crysis is still graphically the best game on "high" settings alone.

@shio

Do u know anything about amazing forest mods? I mean, if that one ever came out.

U kno that one with mushrooms and stuff photorealistic forest.

I have your card and probably a similar rig... Didn't the 8800GT come out in 2006? This is 2009.

Well they were ahead of their time in 2007 and they still max out modern high end PCs in 2009.
The only thing they could do is increasing performance on the highest settings.

8800GT is 2 generations old, almost 3 generations with the new cards coming out within a month or so.

That said, its still a pretty good card.

I run a HD4850 and at 1280x1024, (forgot w/ or w/o AA) still can't run it consistently above 30s with decent action. I don't mind slower fps but its the jerkiness/stutter that's really distracting.

That said, maybe I'm doing something wrong. I just recently fired up Oblivion with a bunch of the new mods like Qarl's Textures and Improve Flora, etc. I can't believe it, 3 years old and with modifications, i STILL get framerate stutter. Its definitely nice and playable still.

Anyone that owns a PC copy of oblivion HAVE to check out the mod scene on it, its incredible.

For me:

1920x1200

4xAA

Very High

30-50 FPS --> GTX 295

The game is always playable.
