I'd much rather have P5 on any of the home consoles really...hopefully it doesn't land on the psp.
My P3/P4 sessions ran something like 5-8hrs, I don't really manage anywhere close to that on the psp >_>

I want a HD consoles persona, but sure i don't want a P5 at Wii, hell, they could make it on DS,PSP,360,PS3 or even PS2 again, but please, no Wii!

When Monster Hunter 3 was a Ps3 game i had it in my list, but once they decided to make it a wii game i just gave up of the game. I admit, i'm a wii hater with all my soul, i don't know why, maybe because it loads of shit games. I mean, i don't have anything against simple games that are made to play with family and friends for some quick fun, but can't stand ultra-low quality games that looks worse than many ps1 games selling more than some nice titles over there.

The PS1 had low quality games that looked like early Snes/late nes graphic wise. The PS2 had these same games as well. Both consoles probably have more of these games than the Wii has the type of game you mentioned. Just look at the PS2's top 50 and you'll see half of them are similar to what you described. The DS, GBA, GB, Snes, and Nes were all in the same area too. What is happening on the Wii is nothing new at all. I think it is pretty sad to not want a game based on what console it is released for. I could see if you weren't able to get the console, but if that were the case you would still want the game, just not able to get it.

I wouldn't really mind it being on the Wii (without motion control please, for the same reason I don't want it on the psp - long gaming sessions).
But I don't see them going to the Wii anyway. Obviously I prefer it HD... though even if it's only for the smoother lines and a bit more detail.

Will play it even if it's on the psp... just wouldn't be so happy about it and my hands will get cramped to hell and back.

Great news. I'll be picking this up aswel.

So will the female protagonist give a sightseeing tour to the male-version of Elizabeth? And at the end... ;)

Haha, I forgot about that. Of course when the time comes, I won't let him have my punani.

@sc94597, I'm thinking the same too - SMT main series / spin-offs on the DS while PSP gets Persona. I'm a little disappointed because I would rather have them on consoles, but I can understand why they're releasing them on handhelds. Anyways, this pretty much pushed me to buy a PSP next year.

Yeah, me too, i actually hope P5 to be ps3/360 game or at least psp. But what makes me sad is that a multiplat ps3/360 could easily sell 600k worldwide, and they don't need to push graphics, making something better than p4 is already enough to me and most persona fans... And making something better looking isn't any hard since p4 graphics aren't great, even for ps2 standards...

It most likely would sell that much on PSP, or more with a PSP/PS2 or even Wii multiplat. It would also be much cheaper. Atlus isn't a company that has a large enough series to keep them alive if one of their games causes a drain in their overall budget. Also Jrpgs are the genre that needs extra power gameplay-wise the least, especially turn based traditional ones. The only benefit HD Consoles will give is better graphics, and I don't think that is enough of a benefit to give up more profit for. It is just smarter overall to release it on a handheld, and imo the game would be better because they could put that money that they would spend on things required on an HD Console into more important things.

Well, i think that hd games just get expensive when you try to push graphics actually, if you try just okay graphics or little-less than average it should be cheap to make. I don't believe Valkyria Chronicles costed more than 10 million dolars to Sega or Tales of Vesperia costed more than 10 million dolars to Namco Bandai or Disgaea 3 costed more than 1 million to NIS.

If you want to sell the same amount that you would on PSP/PS2/Wii you would have to make the game appeal graphically. This is especially when you consider that eh combined userbase is many many times smaller than what 1 of the my previous mentioned platforms have, let alone multiple amounts. Also handhelds are much more popular in Japan compared to consoles, and that means the game has a better chance of success on a handheld. Disgaea is an exception btw, because it was always pretty much the lowest of the lowest in terms of graphics, and I why would you develop a 10m budgeted game when you could develop a 3 or 4m one that provides better sales.

Persona was a test to see if they have a fanbase on the PSP, and Persona 3 is a moneygrab. I'm almost certain that we'll see Persona 5 on the PSP at this point.

DS gets Strange Journey (which looks amazing) and most likely another Devil Survivor down the road.

I can see Atlus putting SMT IV on the HD consoles though. SJ is a back to basics 1st dungeon crawler, more akin to the older games, while SMT IV will probabbly continue Nocturne's style. They wouldn't hire 360/PS3 developers for nothing.

Well, with hd game they sell it for 60$ instead of 50$ of ps2 and Wii and make more profit per copy. And NA is very important to SMT series, especially persona games, they actually could sell more with handhelds in Japan, but in NA the sales would be worse. Well, i hope for a HD or ps2 release.

If you look at the sales of Persona 4, Japan is more important than NA, even if it is bigger. Also  if they ported it to the PS2 or Wii that your point about lower NA sales is a moot one.  As for the $10 extra profit, that still isn't enough to make up a budget difference of at least 6m.  I think PSP is the best platform right now if they want to take it to current generation platforms. Then it is PSP/PS2 or PSP/Wii, or PS2/PS2/Wii. It just makes more sense that the series goes to low-end systems than high-end ones, when the game is a low-end one itself.

I really hope adding the Female MC doesn't mean that they'll make dramatic changes to the storyline. I know there will still be the other MC option, but I really felt the relationship between Yukari/MC and especially the one between Aigis/MC really helped flesh out certain themes in the storyline that made the game a much more enjoyable experience for me. As long as the "different events and Social Links" doesn't mean some relationships would become impossible, I think everything should be fine. Them including a new male Vevlet Room guide makes me kind of worried, though.

@YokoBlue
P3 and P4 happen in the same universe, and are only about 2/3 years apart. I'm not sure how realistic it really is but I think a cameo appearance from some of the P4 cast, or just Chie, would pretty Chie-rific. She would obviously look the same despite being a younger version of herself just because that's how it should be. Another version of Chie could ruin everything.

I think the latest game is better for determining how popular the series is, though it does have many flaws. Also I respect your opinion, I just wanted to counter it by saying it is better suited for the series success to go to lower end platforms, and hd consoles don't give it much to gain other than graphics.
