i should say that the percentage of old people is growing while the percentage of young people is shrinking in Japan. This is actually causing the population to shrink because people are having so few babies.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I actually remember that from my College Geography class back in 2003. We were analyzing how a huge portion of the Japanese population would be over the age of 60 by the end of 2010.

comparing VGC top 30 to theirs (i put the top 15 of the Media Create chart in parenthesis next to the VGC games) If we take out the fact that Media Create seperates the Pokemon games, the order is generally correct for VGC, except VGC has warriors orochi and flash focus swapped, Phantom hourglass and MP8 swapped and NSMB and Yoshi swapped (the worst one because VGC has NSMB selling 50k+ more than Yoshi island)

i would do the next 15 but i want to go to bed.

Yeah, I want FF XII for my PSP./Sarcasm

just noticed something on the User population chart,...there is an anti-spike in Wii owners at 40yo....
OMG people in mid-life crisis are unlikely to buy a Wii....the Wii is Doooooomed.

Still i wonder why that is.

Also it's strange there are sudden drops at age 45, 55 and 65

When you're older, you get more boring every 10 years, in quick bursts, and start to give up all your interests and hobbies.  You then spend your time wittling and talking to lamps.

Wow.
3.5 users per household average is high, what is the average number of people per house in Japan? because if it is only 4 or 5 then that's an excellent number.
3 users per house for DS equates to more sales though, as a lot of houses will only have 1 Wii being used by 3/4 people, wheras not many DSs will be shared so much.

The Wii might not be selling as well as the DS then, but in regards to other consoles, a Wii with 3.5 users could sell more games than a PS2 with 2.4 users.

I didn't realize the GameCube had a 42% female ratio

I always just assumed all consoles were about 20% female or so....

I used to tell my friends that couldn't get their girlfriends interested in gaming to get a Gamecube ... I don't exactly know what it is but many women who would look negatively towards most games would love to play games like Mario Golf/tennis/kart, Animal Crossing or Pikmin

ah yes i was about to say you added a space to the link (i just watched the video) i loved the bit where the translator with the dull voice was talking but Iwata was drinking water.

Also it was interesting to see the age/sex charts for GC, GBA and DS (before and after)
