57,439. You mentioned Halo, which has 605,850 preorders, and Call of Duty, which together has nearly 820,000 preorders. I'm not sure why you mentioned Killzone 2 and Forza 3 either...

57,439 lol, try 578,920 (worldwide) as of 15th August 2009 (confirmed on Forza 3 podcast by Turn 10), it's already been proven that the pre-order numbers in that article on VGC are not right as even Halo ODST has over a million pre-orders in the U.S alone not 605k like the vgc article stated,

GOW II sold over 2.5 million copies even it was an option for more than 120,000,000 PS2 owners at that time, I know some people will say that the game had 17+ ESRB, but that can’t be the real reason, let’s say 50,000,000 of the PS2 owners were 17 or above, so I think it’s still not that great record for such a game, and keeping in mind that the upcoming GOWIII will have even less than 20% of its prequels consoles installed base or let’s say “possible buyers” the game may even struggle to match its prequels records.

GOWIII will be a fantastic game for sure and undoubtedly it will do just fine in the market but let’s be real and far from any fanboisem which causing “Gamers Blindness” illness for some of us, GOWIII will never be a match for top sellers like GTA or HALO series, even though if u asked me I know the game will be more than a match for them technically.

GoW 3.21M

GoW II 2.49M

GoW III 1.77M(?) :)

Oo, Santa Monica. Thats where one can start vampire career.

Even if that were true, that would still mean Forza is nowhere near the size of Halo ODST or Modern Warfare 2.

Plus, remember how Killzone 2 had "1.1 million preorders in Europe"? Those are retailer pre-orders, most likely.

It is indeed true but yeah, you do have a point, I guess pre-orders don't mean a lot, it's the actual sales that count....

Internet hype means jack squat.

There is one way for God of War to have more sales in America and Europe. Controversy. It did wonders for Grand Theft Auto and if there is a lot more gruesome things like Kratos ripping off a guys head. The controversy alone will help this game past the 2M mark. I have a feeling that FOX or MSNBC one of those news station that love to make a mountain out of an ant hill will be covering some protest of God of War by some Mothers Against Videogame groups or something. Sony needs to make sure this has as much gore as possible and as many disturbing images as possible so that the controversy surrounding the title is huge upon release.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

And if it shows a bit of boob it's all to the better for controversy. I did like how Kratos got some major red orbs(?) from having a 3-way with some ladies on his boat. The sound of the women's moaning was hilarious "oooo...ahhhh....ooohhh".

Yeah but that wasn't big enough. maybe showing Kratos' back with the hands of the women on it while players put it in button commands to control Kratos would be enough to get a rile out of the media

Yeah, watching a vase rock from the force of his mighty thrusts was funny, but hardly something for the moral majority to get excited over.
