Forums - Gaming - 10 men who changed the gaming industry forever....

At least most members are in agreement the list is a failure. Maybe we should start creating a more accurate list.

Myamoto after Kutagari...

umm No

CGI your on a roll today, putting out many threads

Sorry but a list when Shigeru Miyamoto isn't nr 1 is and will always be a huge FAIL

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Shigeru Miyamoto should be number one no doubt about that.

If this list is really 10 Men Who Changed The Gaming Industry Forever, I would not include James Allard or anyone from Microsoft, as they have only been in the Console industry for a whole 1.5 generations of it. If Apple comes out with a system that winds up in 2nd or 3rd place for a generations do we automatically put in Steve Jobs or whoever from Apple in the list!!

All I know is that this list is Sony biased because without Miyamoto there is no Kuturagi since Nintendo got Sony in the video game business.

And for them to leave out Yu Suzuki over an Insomniac developer is blasphemy!! Yu Suzuki created the 3D fighting genre, the QTE ..etc which are all still used today. What did Ted Price "create"?

Being in 2nd feels so much better than being in 3rd

1. Insomniac barely counts as independent. I mean, in the legal definition they are, but when your company has only ever worked through having your games published by one of the big three, you can't really call yourself an independent developer like any other. Their ability to remain independent is mostly due to the mercies of Sony in this case.

2. Uematsu's role is heavily overestimated. He's no more significant than, say, Kondo. He is incredibly talented, but not "10 most influential in gaming history" material

3. This post is strongly anti-dreamcast. They talk of the death of the Dreamcast as if its a good thing, and claim Sega's quality control went up since then.

4. J Allard is no mastermind, imo. The successes of the Xbox lie at the hands of others.

5. I think they listed Kutaragi for the wrong reasons, too little focus on his actual abilities as a hardware designer, and also selectively forgetting everything he's done since 2005.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well after looking at where the list came from, it's not surprising that I have so many complaints with it. Not to mention so many key people left out and random people included.

This list is pretty bad. They mention guys like Jay Allard, who managed to "successfully" build the Xbox brand by running MS $6 billion in the red, but ignore Gunpei Yokoi? And why are devs like Ted Price on there? Insomniac makes some great games, but they are hardly revolutionary. And as much as I love music, Uematsu is just a composer. Koji Kondo is better and more memorable, too. Then there's Sakaguchi, who only directed Final Fantasy up to the fifth installment.

Edit: WTF. Insomniac didn't make Jak & Daxter. It's like they're combining Insomniac and Naughty Dog or something.
