"Due out in Japan next month, Nintendo has just announced a spring 2010 release target for the North American and European remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver for the DS.

Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, two of the most ridiculous names we've ever come across, are remakes of the original Pokémon Gold and Silver, with updated graphics and sound, touch screen features, and "a host of surprises." The announcement of the Western release was made during the opening of the 2009 Pokémon World Championships, which one would imagine is a pretty big deal to Pokémon fans.

Smith, The Pokémon Company International's director of marketing, who made the announcement on stage to kick off the 2009 Pokémon World Championships. "We want to thank these loyal fans by revealing the details to them first."

I generally pick up any Pokémon title Nintendo tosses my way reflexively, but they may have lost me here. I cannot buy anything with the words HeartGold or SoulSilver on it. It makes them sound like the type of Pokémon games Twilight characters would play."

I love pokemon games...I swear though if I find out this new game continues to have those 1998 battle animations....fuck this game I'm not buying it and fuck Nintendo, cheap lazy bastards...

I think the DS is more than capable of actually animating a pokemon being hit, take a step back or falling down and then getting back into attack stance, not this 2 frame sprite where getting get = flashing on and off. Also, why on earth do defeated pokemon simply disappear straight into the ground, what they used dig?, how about just have it animate on screen to say it was knocked out but that it's still alive.

I mean they overhauled the over world with a nice Isometric 3D effect, so I can't see why they can't overhaul the battle animation....and you know, fuck adding more pokemon, just properly animate battles and I'll be a happy camper.

just saw some gameplay footage, and now I will not be buying it...a big Fuck you to Nintendo, fucking lazy cunts can't get their shit together to improve pokemon and are simply content with pumping out the same shit over and over.

How hard could it be to add a couple of more frames of animation to the pokemon, for heavens sake I saw totodile do water gun, but the water was coming from his head...sigh...gold was my favorite version but this is just a half assed remake.

It sounds like they're planning on releasing the European version at the same time as the American version - strange. They usually leave a good few months gap. I'm not complaining though, it'll save me the effort of importing. HG/SS is easily my most wanted game in a long time, still remember the day I got the original GB version.
