Forums - Nintendo - banjo tooie hate

i feel that the internet in general likes to bash banjo tooie for things like technical issues and being an exagerated collect-a-thon.  Due to this people now a days tend to hold its prequel (banjo kazooie) as the superior game.  Something that surprises me.

Banjo kazooie was an amazing game (better than mario 64 for me), but i strongly feel that banjo tooie is superior on all fronts.  This was also the general consensus back when the game was launched, so i want to know what made people change their minds, and why banjo tooie is shunned and scarcely regarded as one of the greatest platformers ever?

It's been a long time since playing these games. I too loved Banjo Kazooie but i still remember thinking at the time that Tooie was the better game.

I thought Tooie was better, it broke out more from the SM64 mould and reduced the importance of collectibles compared to Kazooie (e.g. note nests).

Plus, it had Jinjo Village music. Nothing in BK can beat that.

I prefer his work in Perfect Dark (Tooie is still awesome).

Why did i trade in my N64 games.....?

Never really got into these games. I heard BK was good so I bought Tooie. Then I played it for a couple of hours and got bored. Weird considering how much I love Rare and the fact that I spent £50 on it. For me DK64 was the best by far.

Maybe their was some annoying stuff in the game? Like the last bird race. You can't beat him with just pushing the button but you didn't knew how to beat him without mags back in that time.

Banjo Tooie was good in its day but 10 years later released online it just feels like another Banjo-Kazooie. Gamers have moved on, bigger and better platform games such as Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy along with quite a few other modern platformers make the Banjo-Kazooie series look extremely dated in comparison.
