... thank you Capcom ... your loyalty is ... well pathetic :(

wow....it's like capcom owes Sony something.. Capcom more or less dropped Nintendo, and Nintendo had to pay them to get the RE series exclusive before and then they released it on PS2 anyway. They're a 3rd party developer, they go where the money is at. I can't believe your attitute towards them.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

In a different thread I said I ost likely won't get this game. But I seen the screen from it, and the world looks big. Making me rethink myself.

I am Daemon. I am the Word.

The monster hunters games are crap but the games sell well in Japan. Bad news for Ps3 good news for the Wii. PS3 seriously needs japanese games, if ps3 had half of what 360 have it would have sold very well now. When is the game coming out? It will be interesting to see how much hardware it can push.

Who is Capcom supposed to be loyal to?

In my opinion Capcom is supposed to be loyal to their consumers who appear to either be sticking with the PS2 or moving towards the Wii; consider that nearly 1 Million people have bought Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition which is a port of a game which was released on two other systems over 2 years ago and sold (roughly) 1.5 Million on each system.

HAHAHAHA, a 3rd party having loyalty?? Oh thats a good one, i remember back in the day when the SNES held all the third parties, when it came round to the next generation and the N64 called out for people to continously back it, who supported it then? Very few. Same situation with the Gamecube... Oh, also what 3rd party had the faith to believe in Nintendo this time around and create some decent games for launch? Answer: hardly anyone. Oh, and now we see them all doing a u-turn and praising the innovativeness of the Wii, sorta makes you laugh. Hrm, Capcom havent been as bad as some 3rd parties though, to be honest but any support is good support. More support will come though.

I don't really care for Monster Hunter, never played it and the reviews for it were mediocre to say the least, but based on the popularity of the series in Japan, this is a HUGE blow to Sony and it completely wipes off any momentum they might've had with the White PS3 and Price Drop.

I have played Monster Hunter Freedom on my PSP, and I liked the game, the only bad point is that the game is insanely hard. I like the idea of the game but they make the game so hard that I got stucked at level 3 quests(out of 5, being level 1 a tutorial). But I will keep my eye on MH3 for Wii.

Fantastic news for the Wii. Horrible news for the PS3. A little solace for the 360. Anything the PS3 does not get is good for them. They can always play towards the high definition, and unique alternative angle. I think hanging the PS3 salvation on the market in Japan was a bad move by some boosters.

The reality is Sony is caught firmly between two opposing problems now. Nintendo is using its momentum, lower production costs, and lower console price. Which in turn seems that it will deliver once exclusive games to their console. Which almost by default have to become exclusive.

Microsoft on the other hand is more then happy to buy content for their console. Further more it looks like they will pay a premium for that content if it is exclusive. Even more damning Microsoft has the better western support. Meaning they will have the better variety.

Hard to imagine a way that Sony can work themselves out of this predicament. They have Microsoft buying exclusives on one end. Nintendos success snatching up exclusives on the other end. Forcing Sony to spend more money to secure titles. Frankly they will have to spend more money then Microsoft gasp.

What is worst of all however is that this might establish a trend in the market in Japan. The more developers that jump off the good ship PS3. The harder it will be for those that remain on board to stay. The less verdant the field will appear. I think Sony is closer to that precipice then any time before.

I think many Sony boosters on these forums have pegged their greatest hopes on the market in Japan. Specifically Sony retaining those key developers in Japan, and their flagship games. This title was specifically on many lists as to why buy the PS3 console. They have been the shining grace of the console as it were, but is that light starting to dim I wonder.

Generally another bad day for the PS3 advocates.

Capcom is doing its job: Making games for the biggest audience it can find.

Anyone remember the Capcom 5, 5 exclusive Gamecube games released by Capcom?

Dead Phoenix: Cancelled

Red Dead Revolver: Cancelled, but Rockstar picked it up and published it on the PS2

Viewtiful Joe: Started on the GC, but low sales forced a PS2 port. Series became multiplatform at that point.

Resident Evil 4: GC timed exclusive, PS2 version came out 6 months later. (Later made a Wii port)

Killer 7: GC/PS2 multiplatform release.

Capcom simply looked at the platforms, realized which system had the biggest userbase and made games for it. I'm not surprised Capcom decided to cut development costs and move to a bigger userbase.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

Those games were only coming to the Wii originally because the designer of DMC/RE2 loved Nintendo's outlook on games and really wanted to make games for their system.  Also RE4 wasn't one of their five, it was P.N. 03, which came out and sucked.  The point of those five was that they were all-new IPs, which was a break from capcom's general strategy of pooping out sequels like they'd swallowed a gallon of laxatives.
