After the raping that Zero Punctuation gave to the Conduit, I don't blame them for switching...lol

Didn't they make their own engine? What license someone elses?

I kind of doubt Zero Puncuation was the motive here; if you're making business decisions on their advice, ur doing it rong.

But I believe their main engine is Wii-only, so if they're going HD it would take too long to start from scratch. I could be wrong though.

I know...I was kidding. That was a funny ZP review though.

If this ghostbusters engine is similar to Unreal 3 cost wise...I am not sure its a financially smart decision to license when you have a half decent engine alredy set up. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to port it over to PC (and 360) boosting resolution, lighting, models and other things in the process.

But I'm sure they are smarter than me and know what they are doing...

It wasn't funny. I mean, he's not even trying to be creative with the Wii bashing anymore, he's just running on pure hate now. I mean, i will admit that some of his anti-Wii reviews were still funny, but this one was just Wii hate for the sake of Wii hate. Pandering to the large Wii hating audience that Escapist apparently has (read their comments section. Ugh)

Different eyes see different things... there is slight truth to everything he said in that interview.

The Conduit is an average game, with average visuals that got a lot of attention for being "pretty good" for a Wii game. There is no way to spin that...compared to Halo 2 on xbox1, conduit pales in every aspect and that was 5 years ago. Still I enjoyed the game for what it was...

ZP just tends to take a small truth and then amplify it 100X....and make it funny. Thats why he is who he is...

I was kinda angry when he ripped in to FEAR but he did find faults with the game...and make them seem like they break the fabric of our society.

I haven't seen Yahtzee's review of anything for almost a year now, but I can see how he'd rip into the game. Like you said, it's actually a very average game, albeit an enjoyable enough one, but getting all that hype heaped on it before release...it did High Voltage no favors.

Like, literally. The sales are "meh." Still, maybe I should give this review a view, just to see where he went with it.

Wasn't the same engine used on the Wii version? Isn't that just for environmental destruction, etc?

In fact if you go to Infernal Engine's website about this announcement you'll see HVS's quote

http://www.infernalengine.com/news.php

"“We already have the most advanced Wii technology available. By incorporating some of the best PS3/360 technology, we are able to really push the envelope with our next wave of titles.” said Kerry J. Ganofsky, founder of High Voltage Software."

This and the fact that the quote above doesn't specify anything about PS360, I'm betting they are planning on using it in their Wii games in some form.

... and here it stresses it can be used on Wii

http://www.infernalengine.com/tech_cross.php

So, no. HVS is still going to be Wii-centric.

I wouldn't use ZP as a basis for any kind of change lol.. He "gives rapings" to everything, excluding.. Saints Row 2, Painkiller and few others of course.

When your bread and butter is licensed games, it pays to be able to put those licensed games out on as many platforms as possible.

They should keep their mediocrity to as few platforms as possible.

Thanks Superchunk, you get points for actually reading the article. Others get so happy when they think a developer is leaving the Wii. It's just weird that they think the Xbox 360/PS3 is the sure fire way to sell games. Why? There are more core titles that bomb on those platforms than on the Wii simply because an aboundance of core titles are developed for those platforms. Do the math.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Wait how does using an engine that works for all systems Wii, PS2, PC, 360, and PS3 translate into working only on 360 and PC? This does not compute...
