I'm REALLY surprise at what a hot button MH3 is. I mean I can understand it to an extend because some felt it should have been on the PSP, or Sony platform, but to the extend of JUMPING all over every little thing regarding the MH3 Wii version....WOW.

...I think that people are missing that this EXPANDS the MH franchise, it doesn't harm it. It shows the popularity of the series in Japan, the fact it's a system seller, and it deserves to be expanded BEYOND Japan, as Nintendo AND Capcom feel & want it too.

Sometimes guys look at the whole picture instead of just the corner thats nicked...

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

Of course is performing well... just the same old people, claiming the same old thing "Wii bad"

Going by their logic I just realized MGS4 was DA MEGA BOMB!!! in Japan. Who would've thought

PS3 harware base when MGS4 launched: 2.2milj.

Wii hardware base when Monster Hunter tri launched: 8.3milj.

Best selling MGS game in japan (MGS2): 870k

Best selling Monster Hunter game in Japan: 3.35milj.

Maybe that should tell you something...and I don't say that MH3 bombed but it hasn't sell as well as expected.

Oh, so we go by hardware base? Damn, i always thought God of War 1 & 2 sold well, but they freaking BOMBED hard too i guess.

I mean, you are also comparing portable with home consoles, so .... that should really tell YOU something x)

But when MGS4 sells only 200k less than MGS3 did with huge PS2 hardware base you can't even joke that it was a bomb. And why not compare home consoles to handhelds when we are comparing game sales? So we can't compare DQIX sales to DQVIII sales because latest one was handheld game?

So what do we have here?

Monster Hunter = .28M

Monster Hunter G = .23M

Monster Hunter 2 = .63M

All of them in the ps2, with HUGE ps2 hardware base.

And now, MH-Tri = +.70M in just 9 days, on the wii, with [less] half the install base of the ps2. Now, you can agree is selling well, right?... i mean, if you are happy with MGS4 selling 200K less than MGS3 b/c of the huge install base of the ps2, then you should be more than happy with MH-Tri

Thanks for making my life simplier man =)

You're welcome! Those Monster Hunter games were released before PSP literations made series so huge in Japan. In MGS case, the original MGS already made series popular in Japan. And I haven't said that MH3 bombed. It just hasn't sold as much as majority people here predicted. Mostly I just got caught with your MGS4 comparison.

I doesn't matter if they came out before or after, is just like that. The Wii version already outsould PS2 versions despite Userbase. And if you are kind enough to go to the thread of the MH-tri predictions you will have to edit this part of your post.

And well, the MGS4 part was just to show some guys how stupid they look, b/c i know MGS4 sold well in Japan.

I don't know if you remember well, but the first shipment, before the launch was 1 million of units. Two weeks past launch and the game still hasn't sold it yet. For a game of the caliber of MH3 (that carried the hope of expand the hardcore audience of the Wii), it's a bomb.

Just hopes that it goes better in the Overseas.

BTW, what was the Capcom expectations?

This is funny. Monster Hunter 3 is on track to outsell all other third party home console games in Japan this generation in three weeks on the market. Not only this, but there is reason to believe that the bundles are being sold out and THAT is why sales are so low and will be low until the next shipment. This is Japan buddy, to reach a million is an amazing feat, and it will most likely hit that mark. Also don't expect anything close to this level or better in the West.  So NO the game didn't get anywhere close to bombing.

Edit: Actually it just passed Metal Gear Solid 4 as the best selling third party game on home consoles in Japan.

Different games have different expectations. MH3 was hyped, and have really great production values. It had 3 types of bundles, and a standalone version. If the costumers cannot find the bundle one, they don't care to pay a bit more to get it soon (we are talking about people that would have bought a new console only for the game, the same ones that buy new games only for a 30 minutes demo). And now there are big chains dropping 60% of the price (10 days after launch) since the game is not selling by any means (comparing to their, Capcom and stores expectations).

As I said before, it is a bomb. FOR A MH GAME.

So because it didn't meet YOUR expectations it bombed? LOL That is how we determine "bombs" now. Anyway it is the best selling console Monster Hunter, and it's a failure for the series?

Are you reading what I've being posting, or just trying to being an a*s because I don't agree with you?

How about you clarify your stance. First you say that it is a bomb because it doesn't sell it's shipment. Then you say it is a bomb for a totally different reason, that it didn't sell as well as other monster hunters(which isn't true btw. It didn't sell as much as the PSP versions. It did sell more than the PS2 versions though, which is also the versions better to compare it with.) As far as I see it, you are one of the few people who thought this game was going to sell anywhere near the psp versions, and that is why you go over the top and say it bombed. So which is it?

Imo a game isn't a bomb unless the sales do a few things. Either the developer loses money or doesn't make too much(which definately doesn't seem like the case here), or the developer themselves are unhappy with the sales. Capcom just sold a million copies of monster hunter 3, I'm sure they are happy, because it is almost certain they already made a good profit.  So it seems to be you are in a very small group who is unhappy with your the sales. I challenged your opinion, which is what people do on internet forums. So please go ahead any explain how I'm being an a*s because I analyzed your posts with the best of my reading comprehension. Maybe I should put that in question because there is obviously something I'm missing.

Majority of people predicted 1 mil LTD, and it's very likely it'll do that...

So what are you talking about?

I remember more 1.5milj+ predictions than 1milj predictions. I don't mind at being wrong if you just find that prediction thread.

Anyone with half a mind wouldn't expect the game to be as successful as the PSP versions, duh...

Are you going to cry? Just wondering...

:) Get a hold of yourself their is nothing in here to be so sensitive about.

I don't see how that qualifies it as a bomb. Publishers "expectations" are more in line with predictions , not hopes. Even if they did predict 2 million by the defintion I consider a bomb(since I'm the only person in this thread who defined it I will go by that) that isn't valid. They could be happy with a million, even if it isn't their initial prediction. Also please link me to where they said that. I would love to know when they made this prediction, and whether they meant shipped or sold.(Publishers care much more about shipped because to them that IS sold.)

One or two odd predictions aren't the majority...

Yeah. I admit that it is easier to remember odd predictions than others. (Like we have seen with many PS3 games) I just remember that pretty many said something like over 1.5milj for MH3 but like I said I could be wrong too....
