Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MS Games on Demand prices upset World.

Last week, we all learned how Australia is being expected to pay a ludicrous 6000 Microsoft Points for Mass Effect, as well as other titles. The inconsistent, rather insulting price points for a number of games worldwide has given us a good, clear indicator of exactly how greedy Microsoft intends to be with Games on Demand, but MS has decided to sugarcoat it and give one of the most pathetic PR responses I've seen in a long time.

"No one retailer has the lowest pricing for every product, and our program is about giving people 24 x 7 convenience and selection when shopping for Xbox 360 games," snivels Microsoft. "We're incredibly excited about what Games on Demand means for digital distribution, and will continue to evaluate and evolve the service to meet market and consumer demands."

So, Microsoft basically believes that the convenience is worth the ridiculous price tag. I can't remember correctly, but I don't think Steam games are priced with that kind of mentality. Someone remind me ... do Steam games cost $100, and are we supposed to feel grateful for it?

Absolutely pathetic.

...... what do you think? Id say theres some great games being released on Games on Demand, and i Love DD and how easy it is to just boot up and downlad. But im not sure id pay some of the prices being set for some of the games. I can find better deals on sites in style with pricerunner etc. inlc. shipping.

Most of the games on the US store are the Normal retail price which I have no problem with. $19.99 for a game is not a bad deal. Some at $29.99 which is regular MSRP are fine as well.  The ones I do have a problem with are SW:Lego, COD2 and a few others which are more then MSRP. Those should be fixed asap. Don't know about the other countries.

How much does 6000 points equate to in real money S/£

With unanimous outrage like this, Microsoft really should take a hint. Lower the prices or have a failing service.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

deserves to be posted again

6000 points is $75 US. Someone in that areas MS department is off their rocker. On the US store its the proper $19.99

wow... in my eyes thats daylight robbery, although i think it may be to do with australia tax laws and other stuff

Someone made a good statement that Steam dosent have a higher price just because its concenience.

And the Mass Effect pricing is just out of this world.
"Mass Effect
US: $19.99 - 1600MSP
CAD: $29.99 - 2000MSP
UK: £19.99 - 2400MSP
EURO: €29.99 - 2400MSP
NWY: 299NOK - 2400 MSP
SWDN: 349 SEK - 2400MSP
DNMK: 299dkr - 2400SMP
SWIS: 49CHF / 32€ - 2800 MSP
AU: $99.95 - 6000MSP
NZ: $99.95 - 6000MSP"

4400MSP difference!

Looking at the rest of the prices, I think you gotta be pretty stupid or have a lot of disposable cash as its so overpriced
