Alright Superchunk. Maybe you should read over all your posts in this thread. You've made some pretty silly twists of logic so far.

And I highly doubt you hold the same moral righteousness for other, far more important aspects of life.

I did?

I thought I kept the same theme. i.e. If you didn't pay for it, its stealing. What have I twisted.

As for the rest of you all, I guess our discussion is done as we are at unmovable walls. You have convinced yourself that it isn't hurting anyone and used that to justify the simple action of theft. You didn't pay for the content your putting on your preferred storage, thus it is stolen, i.e. theft.

When it comes to games I can honestly say that pirating games has let me to buying more games. Demos aren't enough and usually they give a bad impression. I got Sacred 2 on 360 because I got Sacred 1 ''for free'', same goes for GeOW2, The Sims 3, Civilization 4 and many other titles. When it comes to movies I haven't bought any more or less as the movies I ''get for free'' arent movies I would have seen in the cinema or on dvd. However I did see POTC2/3 int he cinema because I saw the first one for free. So I can sleep well at night and I believe that the corporations are exaggerate their losses because they dont take into account people like me. They see Harry Potter 6 ''2 million times downloaded'' and see that as missed profits. And now they are picking people out of the crowds and sue them succesfully for tons of dollars, it's rediculous.

Yeah Grey21 they should sue the whole crowd it is Ridiculous

The first twist is that you have perverted the definition of theft to suit your own motives. Argue morality and its grey area all you like. The definition of theft is black and white.

i am sick of people bitching about piracy.

The averige payment in Brazil is about 220-230 dollars. And one guy from Brazil told me that games cost about 120 dollars there.(the new ones) So you except someone to spend more than half of his payment just to get one game??? You people need to understand that not everyone can afford to buy games even thought they HAVE a job.

theft n. the generic term for all crimes in which a person intentionally and fraudulently takes personal property of another without permission or consent and with the intent to convert it to the taker's use (including potential sale). In many states, if the value of the property taken is low (for example, less than $500) the crime is "petty theft," but it is "grand theft" for larger amounts, designated misdemeanor, or felony, respectively. Theft is synonymous with "larceny." Although robbery (taking by force), burglary (taken by entering unlawfully), and embezzlement (stealing from an employer) are all commonly thought of as theft, they are distinguished by the means and methods used, and are separately designated as those types of crimes in criminal charges and statutory punishments. (See: larceny, robbery, burglary, embezzlement)

Its an even cuter argument when its "The industry needs your support!"

but BladeOFGod you are in Germany not Brazil yes in much of the developing world the prices are insane and should be brought down to mach income levels but pirating them is not going to make them do that

I hate when people bitch about piracy.

Obviously the piracy is the only way. You people need to understand that not everyone can afford to buy games from stores
