Forums - Nintendo - I have guy who claims he is an artist for infinity ward and bashes the Wii

If someone isn't sharing specs then I would think it's because they aren't worth comparing which tells me the others are more powerful and that ends that. We are in the current and there's no point comparing past consoles. Doesn't mean anything. Wii is less powerful than other two but really shines for controls. I made my choice and I love it. Don't need specs to enjoy gaming and the only ones that seem to care so much about the Wii's hardware are the one's that want to bash it anyway so really who gives a @#*$.

Consoles owned: NES, N64, PS1, GC, PS2, Wii.

Just tell the bloke that the Wii is capable of bump, gloss and diffuse mapping, specularity, depth of field, focus blur, high res 4 layered textures, real-time reflection and refraction for water, character models and weapons, heat distortion, environment mapping and HDR lighting.

And there's plenty more impressive visual effects and performance to come from the Quantum3 engine amongst others (can't remember the names of the engines powering Silent Hill, Cursed Mountain and Red Steel 2 now, sorry!).

Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles is also looking impressive imo.

The eye candy bar has been raised for Wii third party titles and imo they've hardly scratched the surface of what the Wii can do.

For the ghostbusters guy asking, my assumption is that Nintendo decided not to guy high specs like Microsoft and Sony and took a gamble and focused on motion based gameplay. They weren't in the best situation in the gaming market with rumors that they were thinking of leaving the gaming industry all together before the announcement of the "revolution".

They took the low specs in order to produce a system that would generate profit from day 1, and be accessible to the consumers seeking the console. Now im sure you people forgot this, but during E3 2005? Nintendo announced they were going to show people some of the best graphics ever possible on the Wii.. this was back when it was the revolution and the controller had yet to be revealed. So clearly there strategy changed from 2005 and on.. Sony simply failed to capture a significant market with the PS3 (atleast compared to wii) because of there price.. and they did the exact opposite nintendo did, relase a console at a loss from day 1, and at a price were consumers could not pay.

I can't remember a time when Nintendo has never done this... Nintendo waits until they can develop a machine with the specs they want at a price the consumers can afford and it won't mean them taking a loss.
