Just tell the bloke that the Wii is capable of bump, gloss and diffuse mapping, specularity, depth of field, focus blur, high res 4 layered textures, real-time reflection and refraction for water, character models and weapons, heat distortion, environment mapping and HDR lighting.
And there's plenty more impressive visual effects and performance to come from the Quantum3 engine amongst others (can't remember the names of the engines powering Silent Hill, Cursed Mountain and Red Steel 2 now, sorry!).
Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles is also looking impressive imo.
The eye candy bar has been raised for Wii third party titles and imo they've hardly scratched the surface of what the Wii can do.
