lol, it was fun when a fellow nation goes rogue and attacks me and then quickly gets the boot from the pope allowing me to call a crusade against them and freeing me up to take their lands despite their religion.

Well dang i may have to give that a look then after i move
Civilization 4 doesn't do enough with diplomacy and religion and stuff, and Super Power 2 doesn't do enough with combat.
If i can adjust to the RTS it might be just my kind of game.

Congrats, and you did it with Venice, too! My favorite faction.
Kasz, I think you're overestimating diplomacy in Total War. Although there are a few diplomacy mods out there.

Denmark: British Isles Campaign.

The invasion of the British isles has begun. The island is divided between two factions, the Scots and the English. I have sent two fleets, one with the main force led by myself, and the other with a minor force to serve as reinforcement. I did not want to engage the English, as I intended to defeat the Scots first and foremost with a swift invasion, concentrating all my forces northward and eliminating their faction leaders and taking their settlements. Afterwards I could regroup and concentrate my full force onto England.
Unfortunately prior to the invasion I could not secure an Alliance, no matter what I tried. However, the English and Scottish were both neutral, and I did not expect the English coming in to aid their neighbor. Perhaps near the end of the war with Scotland, when my forces are up northwards, but I truly did not expect the English to drive me back, along with the Scottish, into a corner.
I had endured assault after assault, and I was helpless to attack the English due to the Pope's warning. However, finally after the English attacked me for one last time upon my stronghold, they themselves were Excomunicated. The Scottish main force was decending upon me anyway, so I decided to leave their territory, and to march onwards to the English's settlement, where their King lies. If the Scottish continue to march to my stronghold, hopefully the garrison there could hold out until I swing back my main force to break the siege. But for now, it's time for me to shake up the leadership and organization of the English.

Although the enemy King is outnumbered, nor is he remarkable, an capabable general, with the benefit of having huge stone walls to hide behind, he would not be an enemy to take lightly. However, with his reinforcements out of the way, I truly have a chance only given by God, to cut off the head of the lion.

Tonight was a wonderful night. After I broke through the castle's line of defense, their force collapses, and their King was captured as he pitifully attempted a last stand. I decided to let the fool live, until sun set, so I could watch him die as I ate my dinner. I knew that the Scottish will go towards my stronghold at Caernarvon. However I didn't know, just as sunset was about to come, that the Scott's old king had finally died.

I never laughed so gleefully before. I don't remember the exact words as I was, to be honest, hysterical. However I do remember laughing and spitting into the face of the former king Rufus, as I told the horrored face that his ally's King was gone. The large Scottish force that crossed my borders, towards my fortress were in confusion. Without their leader, the leader who was able to keep me at bay, able to convince to the English to cooperate against me, they collapsed. They became nothing more than Brigands, without a king to pledge alliegance to. The King that succeded the old fool was pathetic, inpotent fool. My Captains could command better than him. My son must seem like a military genious when compared to him.
Although it must be unnerving for my men in their fortresses to be faced with such a large force. Without organization, those rebels and bandits can't phanthom to pull off a proper takeover.

Unfortunately for me, the fucking Pope took matters into his own hands... I guess the news of my army sacking the entire city, looting, killing, and raping its inhabitants reached Rome faster than I thought.

No matter, there is a Crusade occuring right now, I haven't been threatened with excomunication yet, and so I could give a SHIT, about what the Pope thinks.

I love how fate works. Truly, God must be on my side. He has allowed me to defeat and kill all those who oppose me, and when I cannot, he has done it for me!!!

Unfortunately it seems the next Pope is another senile fool as well, but no matter, what can an old man do from Rome?

This is it, with the capture of their Capital, there homeland, the English will be a pale specter, of its former self. With this, and my superior navy, can I control the lowerhalf of the British isles, and stop fighting a 2 fronted war. The English will be defeated, and isolated on the mainland with nothing to do except go to war with France, my ally. The Council has agreed with me for once, and are asking me to blockade the English. It doesn't really matter though, as the English do not even have any money to support their large, but immobile forces. But, it does not hurt to stop whatever income they have.

Their reinforcements are too far away, and I now attack.

It is a shame that the boy had to go against me. I believe that a father should protect his own household, not his son.

Normally I would be furious, but this is not the case. My men are tired, I am moving my son to the British isles (the Pope wants him to go on a campaign with Crusaders, HA!), reinforcements are coming, and I must begin retraining my currect force and refilling their lines.
I also would like to spend some time more on the management of my empire's finance, as I have the extra money to finally build my infrastructure.

...
My Son has finally reached shore, the reinforcements from the mainland as well. My main force has also refilled it's lines.
The second Pope has already died.

God truly must exist.

I find the Crusades to be futile. Sending in your own generals and family memebers to capture a far away land, far from reinforcements, to be surounded by hostile Muslims. My son is not ready yet, and when is ready, he won't even consider such a ridiculous thing.

3 years have already passed, our armies are fully equiped and ready. It is time to descend upon the Scots and end this war quickly.

The prince has been BETRAYED! This is glorious, I've never experienced being so honored with a full retreat by an army simply with my footsteps. The Prince is now isolated, the Captain that was leading the reinforcements gone. I am going to give my son a treat, and show him what a true king is like!

Ohhhh, the smell of blood. I will have to make my son aquire a taste for it, but for me, it was natural pleasure. The Papacy didn't like it, but what can they do? What can they possibly do? And such a victory! My men may hate me, fear me, but they want me to lead them. As many enemies I kill. Women, children, and elderly. With me leading them, while it results in the death of the opposition, it also results in fewer deaths of my own men. Who can oppose such a leader, who allows them to live, and also kill?
I've sent my son ahead, to siege the next settlement. I will accompany him soon.

I am surprised. It has been barely half a year, and already the Pope has told me to stop hostilities. I have already waited 3 years, and he wants me to wait again? No, this cannot be, I cannot come this far, and pull back because of some fucking old man.

I arrived next to my son. There was a calm fog, and it was hard to see what lay beyond. My son, although he has fought numerous battles and saw death in its face asked me if it truly was a good idea to go against the Papacy, against the entire weight of the Catholic nations, against God himself.
I told him, that even if I was wrong about God willing me to conquer and unite his children, that if we were to go to Hell, then I would go and conquer it and rule over it as its King, so there was nothing my son should worry about.
I gave the command to my men, and we began the slaughter.

I didn't need the messenger to tell me. I know what I've done, and its consequence. My son is already on his way to take the final settlement of the Scots. My scouts reported that the last Prince of Scotland was coming towards my son to break the siege. However, it is too late.

When my son's messenger reported to me, he told me that he easily stormed the Wooden fortress, and slain the Scot's king. His final momments were composed of him madly asking where his son was, and that he would soon come to liberate him and his people from my grip.

The Scots are no more. The Prince is no longer of Royal blood, and now is simply the leader of a disorganized mob of bandits.
The people of Scotland have lost their identity, and are now a colony and inhabitants of the glorious Empire of Denmark.
I do not know what comes after this. My empire is already in turmoil due to my excomunication. However, I know that the only way left to go is forward. I've already stained my hands in blood. Water won't wash them away, so why not continue washing them in blood?

I never played Medieval II, but it looks similar to Medieval and nothing that Akvod has said has struck me as impossible to do in Total War, so I'd say yes
I take this chance to ask for help. My dad is tired of playing Empire Total War, he says he has beaten everything and he wants a new game that's similar. Any suggestions? I know you'll suggest M2TW, but I'm not sure he'll like it since ETW is the sequel. Still, any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated

@ zexen, well I was in a similar situation, except I have played MII, Rome and MI, so I tried Sins of a Solar Empire. it is quite similar, except it is sci-fi. The main difference is that the battles happen in real time, but there is still a lot or army and empire management, you should look it up, and it is quite cheap now

Errr... you could also choose, instead of auto resolve, to fight the battle in real time. It was only due to my computer's limitations, me hating Siege battles (at least attacking), and time constraints (it took me FOREVER, to make all that >.< and I ended up with lackluster writing due to rushing).
