Forums - Gaming - Which game based movie will turn out better...GOW or...GoW?

In the left corner we have:

God of War - directed by Brett Ratner. Previous work includes Rush Hour series and Xmen 3: the last stand.

In the right corner:

Gears of War - directed by Len Wiseman. Previous work includes Underwold series and Die Hard 4.

Its a tough call to make in my opinion.

Both will most likely be dumb action blockbusters. My nod goes to Gears as I think it is a little bit cooler concept for a big screen movie and I think it will be closer representation of the game but I am glad both are getting made. Whichever gets and R rating wins...

All we know is that one of them will no doubt be the greatest game based movie ever made...until Steven Spilberg decides to make a Halo movie that is ;)

Gears of War will be better. The story in Gears practically begs to have a movie made out of it. Chances are both will suck though which is what happens with most video game movie renditions.

That plus it looks like Cliffy B and Epic may be very involved with the movie. They won't be like capcom who jsut gives their franchises to Holywood and says "go nuts". Gears is Cliffys baby so I'm sure if he's involved it won't turn out bad.

God of War on the other hand has a solid action director (I like a lot of Brett Ratners movies) but it looks like hes jsut waiting for the script and is going to shoot it as he sees fit. Wonder if hes even played the games...

X-Men 3 was complete shit, so I'd say Gears of War will be better.

Xmen 3 had the weakest story and was kinda silly at the end (writers fault)...but it was by far the slickest of the 3 when it comes to camera shots and special effects.

Idk why people hate the resident evil movies... I find them really good

That might be true - I wouldn't know, I was busy covering my eyes over seeing some great heroes and villains being utterly butchered.

I never said they were bad. They are good, saturday afternoon type of movies. However they are NOT resident evil. Not even close to a faithful re-creation of the game...
