Yea.. it's practically the same moves ... well ofcourse there's been a development. But it's nowhere near as big.

there are so many fighting games already available....I guess the fighting genre has hit saturation and Tekken 6 missed out.
Doesn't matter cuz if one wants to juggle, then they can learn how to juggle for real, it'll be more fun than the game.
Nobody cares because the better fighting game already came out, cheap and downloadable.

How has Tekken's development been bigger than the development of a single character, 3 punch, 3 kick, 3 special move fighter to what it is today? You do realize the first Street Fighter really had no throws to break turtling, no throw techs, no combos, no super combos, no damage scaling, no roster variety, no 2-in-1's, no super cancels, no taunts (which is probably only really important to 3), no reversals, no focus attacks (especially as a means to roman cancel), no real footsie game (which is a huge part of many games in the 2D fighting genre), no super jumps, no dashing, no back dashing, and on and on and on and on and on. I mean, if you want to say the development between Street Fighter II and Street Fighter IV is lacking compared to Tekken to Tekken 6 that's completely understandable, but Street Fighter I was essentialy the most basic 2D Fighter you can really think of and it was until Street Fighter II that Capcom really helped define what we now see as a 2D fighter today. The step between Street Fighter and Street Fighter II was monumental, and I really don't see how Tekken has developed as much as Street Fighter did from its first iteration to its second.

@ Staude...
I had missed this some how...Since it's a Tekken thread I was not really paying attetion...
Tekken is bigger than Street Fighter....I will be sure to mention that some one thought it was not at the next national Tekken tournament...
I've never seen any changes in street fighter ethier...Tekken is so evolutional even Virtua Fighter seems flat....I mean when you can't do an on rails 10 hit chain combo in a game its so lame...
Tekken is so advanced itagaki traveled back in time and made DoA 2 just like Tekken 6....i must thank Tekken's advanced gameplay for giving me a very enjoyable fighting game from Tecmo in 1999...
Capcom then borrowed Itagaki's time machine and made Final fight in Homage to Tekken 3's extra modes...

First reply hit the nail on the head.
Plus, even with the delays, there are too many games coming out this holiday to care about Tekken 6. I loved Tekken 5, and even I don't want it.
LOL I remember a thread months before tekken 6 was announced exclusive, where alot of sony fans said they didnt care about the game or if the game went multi.
An exclusive going multiplatform is a funny thing.
For a hyped game, like Final Fantasy XIII, a multiplat announcement serves to drive the hype to new heights.
For a game like Tekken 6, which would mostly be used as an argument for the PS3's superiority, a multiplat announcement kills any semblance of hype. There are plenty of excellent multiplat fighting franchises around, but there only used to be ONE that was exclusive. Sad, but true.

I completely agree with you there. SFIV was much shallower that I expected from reviews, and that same basic entry level accessability ruined the game. No button masher would ever beat me at Tekken. Not one round, ever. Before the SF fanboys jump me, know this. SF does have some depth, but it's dissapointingly shallow compared to SFIII, or Tekken in general. Not arguable. |
