Forums - Nintendo - Essential to understand Japanese in order to know what you're doing in MH3?

I want to play this game and see what it is all about but I am not sure if it is possible to play and understand what to do. Anyone know if these games are story heavy or if it is just mindless monster hunting?

Could I enjoy this without knowing a single thing being said?

Nobody plays Monster Hunter games?

I play Monster Hunter games!

While I wouldn't say it's essential (because there isn't a story), you have to be very diligent on the cross checking. Many quests require you to kill/gather a certain animal or plant. This'll all be in Japanese so it might be tough finding the right one.

If I just want to kill stuff it should be easy getting started then?

Yeah, but I'd look at translated manual or get an explaination on the Wii controls.

Honestly, I would look at the PSP versions. They're great and in English.

The game rarely makes any big changes. Make that and see what you think.

Well I already have the Monster Hunter Tri and don't have the PSP game. Also how hard could it be to learn if the game uses the classic controller?

^^^ I'm in the same boat, but I think with some diligence it can be done. Only once have I been really stumped and Babblefish saved my ass. If you already have it certainly give it a go. It looks beyond amazing.

There is nothing to know, just look at the pure awesomeness of this game, and that's me playing btw.

So did you guys "import" this game as well?

I turned it on just before but had to feed my kid. Now I am free again and am about to check it out. I am high hopes for this game's graphical prowess.

Too bad I don't have the component cables hooked up to my Wii at the moment.

I like the game play better than the graphics tbh, and this is my first MH lol.
