Forums - Gaming - Malstrom: Hardcore are the casuals!

To say the hardcores are the casuals is a stupidity. Both denote being on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as fanfare is concerned.

ZOMFG! I agree with Malstrom about hating most console controllers and true hardcore gaming belonging to PC! He infected me!!!

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")

Any true gamer wouldn't have a problem with a console controller.

I get my gaming in any way I can. Some genres I prefer with mouse and keyboard (strategy games, FPS), some with a game pad (action/adventure titles, fighting games), and some with the Wiimote (various sports titles, racing games). However, just because a good game in a genre I like ends up using a control scheme I may not prefer, doesn't mean I won't play the game.

This guy is either as close minded as the people he constantly berates or else he sucks at games because he can't figure out how to use analog sticks. I'll go with the former, based on previous articles he's written.

Is Maelstrom a gaming version of captain obvious ?

We knew console games are dumbed down versions of PC gaming for years :)

Every console game in existance could have been released on pc in superior version it's only the publisher choice to not put them there.

Almost any branded merchandise that happened to receive most attention from potential customers is likely to accumulate more casual customers as well, leaving dedicated customers to rivals. No surprise that console gaming (todays game industry locomotive, console retail is accounted for ~60% of total industry revenue in 2007 according to PwC) is more mass-marketed than PC gaming. If we write off an army of gamers who play Peggle in the office and MMO-gamers (two biggest forces behind PC gaming) those who left are usually more enthusiastic than regular console gamer just because of their platform of choice. For instance, PS2 owner could be anybody measured by dedication to gaming, GC\Xbox owner is likely an enthusiast, PS2+GC\Xbox owner is very likely a gaming enthusiast.

In spite of the fact that original article sounds more like troll post, he's got a point, though described pretty badly. But as has been stated already... really, nothing new.

Hardcore = non-Wii doesn't it?

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Pyro as Bill said:

Nope: Hardcore to casual scale: gaming PC enthusiast >> X360=PS3 > Wii > pc flash games player.

Strange, my scale goes

PC=Wii >>>> PC lites

I'd be tempted to put Wii above PC on the basis that Wii is a pure gaming machine (aka console) as opposed to a machine that can play games.
