He's a little late on making this observation, i must say.

There is no hypocrisy in being a hardcore gamer. Hardcore gamers are just people who are gaming hobbyists and would rather have challenges in gaming, than just simplistic casual play. I've spoken to many casuals and their main gripe with the 360 and PS3 is the games that make use of all the buttons. It's kind of like how PC guys feel about console people, but fail to realize that consoles and PC are two different things that offer a similar style of entertainment.

If you want to use proffesional gaming as your guide for hardcore then consoles fit your definition. MLG is probably a bigger gaming league than almost every other league including proffesional pc leagues. According to your definition Halo 3, GoW, Madden are all hardcore. Hell MLG has actually been televized on tv in the United States so here console gaming is definitely more hardcore than pc gaming. Probably not the case in Korea though.

Because all video games are FPSs and RTSs. This guy needs to get over himself.
I'm glad PC gamers are a dying breed. Their arrogance knows no bounds.

I love idiotic phrases like "Hardcore".

Would you prefer "Video Game Buff" or "Video Game Enthusiast" more?


Maybe take it old school and call them "Video Heads".

Speaking of Madden. I have a friend who was the biggest Madden fanatic last gen. This gen he's given up on Madden because  he claims its too complicated. NBA 2k9 is probably the most complicated basketball game ever, but I still play it. Oh well. He's not as hardcore of a sports gamer as we thought. He likes playing on a moderate level.
