Sony Launching Upgraded PlayStation Network on August 18th

A new e-mail has been going out to PlayStation Network Asian members about an upcoming upgraded PlayStation Network come August 18th. The e-mail writes: "Sony Computer
Entertainment Hong Kong Limited shall launch a new upgraded PlayStation®Network Membership service on 18th August, 2009. Now you can enjoy more value-added services such as online gaming, PlayStation®Home and exclusive membership offers."

A link was provided for logging in to "My Page" at PlayStation Asia, but it won't go active until August 18th. Considering Sony's three-hour press conference is that same day, there's another announcement on the way.

That sounds like they will just be upgrading the Asia PSN to bring it up to speed with the US, EU and Japan PSN.

That's what i was thinking anyway! Does anyone have an account for that area to check if they have access to those aspects of the PSN yet or not?

Regardless of what the outcome of this e-mail, it is looking like Gamescom is going to be THE place to watch for Sony fans come the 18th of August!

Funny that this is brought up. i hadn't been on the PSN for a bit and noticed yesterday that they changed the sound scheme...a small change to say the least but at least it shows they're actively working on the PSN.

It could just be more PR for their conference. "PS3 is leading the way with it's online service and now we're happy to be bringing all that PSN goodness to Asia blah, blah".

I live in hope for 3.0 though!
