Forums - Nintendo - so...whatever happened to the dsi virtual console?

My reason for believing it is that they have pretty seriously scaled bac the Virtual Console release stuff.

Kenryoku_Maxis: That site you linked just references back to that random blog that claims it got an email from Nintendo. It's fake.

But if you believe that, you might as well believe this too.

Demon's Souls Official Thread  | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

I think a DSi is worth it if you like the MP3 and a camera also the dsi shop will get betterr over time just like on wii so I say don't be in a rush though as for virtual console I give to today to the next 366 days that they'll announce it

Tag:I'm not bias towards Nintendo. You just think that way (Admin note - it's "biased".  Not "bias")
(killeryoshis note - Who put that there ?)

Nintendo has already said they're cutting back on Virtual Console with the Wii, in favor of WiiWare services, which are more popular (and generate much more profit).

That article was a fake.

It better have been.

...A-are you sure?

100%?  No.  Reasonably certain? Yes.

Unless we're to believe that Nintendo gives canned responses to high profile gaming websites and personalized responses to random bloggers, I think it's really unlikely that article was legitimate.

Well what do you consider a 'legitamite' website.  I mean, compare the article I linked you to next to this article from IGN.  Where they elevate the opinion of a random blogger who claims to be someone and report it as 'news'.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/100/1009002p1.html

I mean, which is the more creditable?  The one claiming they talked to Nintendo but is a site devoted to Wiiware news or IGN who claimed they 'knew' the guy?

Apparently, you fail to understand what your own words imply. Yes, you said they never announced it. THEN you said, "and why would they", which would imply that they have no reason to announce/release any DSi VC. If that's not what you meant, then I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. But in that case, you also chose your words horribly.

And if you're going to try saying that the whole "remake" thing works as a valid argument, do you REALLY think that people will buy retail releases of classic handheld titles?

Chrono Trigger DS.

Did I say classic titles? No, I specifically said classic HANDHELD titles, which fall into an ENTIRELY different category both visually and content-wise.

Chrono Trigger doesn't even BEGIN to fit as a comparison with what I said.

The first thing I thought of was a virutal console of some sort? But no, we have a shitty DSiWare shop with hardly any selection.

Oh stop whining.  The DSi shop was just introduced.  It's not like Wiiware had anything amazing the Wii's first 6 months.

Do you really need a list of big effort Wiiware games from that period?  FFCC: My Life as King was a Wiiware launch title wasn't it for one?

When Final Fantasy IV; The After Years doesn't even quality for DSIWare I wonder the sort of quality most titles will even be.   WiiWare has the Wii VC the fill in any weak gaps in download games, DSIWare does not.

FFCC released in 2008.  The Wii was launched in 2006.

Do I really have to pick one?  Can't I just call them both garbage?

Yes but we are talking about Wiiware and DSiWare and FFCC:MLAK is a Wiiware launch title.  The launch of the Wii doesn't come into it.

To use your logic the DS launched in 2004...

No, we're talking about what you quoted me as saying which was "the Wii's first 6 months."  I said that on purpose to trip up silly people who can't read.  And, no the DS's launch date doesn't matter since it's not capable of DSiware.

If you want to go that route, go ahead.  But while I agree that IGN is garbage, I think its pretty harsh to call the other site garbage just because it was providing a link to another sites supposed conversation with a 'nintendo rep'.  At least the site poinred to the fact that the source was not fact saying "While a customer service rep may not sound like the most reliable source, they're trained to follow company policy, and it's pretty apparent by the lack of VC releases in the US for the past two weeks, and its very spotty release schedule otherwise, that Nintendo may be slowing down the service."

If you were wondering why I was making the comparison to IGN.  Which stands in stark contrast to the conversation good ol' Matt at IGN 'overheard' badmouthing Wii.  Which may have either happened online or in his head.

Edit: Wow...apparently now we have ads in the forum and it caused me to double post.
