Forums - Nintendo - Who thinks Kotaku heard wrong?

I do,

As of right now, no other source has stated that COD:MW will come to the Wii. How do we know Kotaku didn't hear MW1 instad of MW2? I think that MW2 is actually more probable.

Personally, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they heard exactly right.

Super World Cup Fighter II: Championship 2010 Edition

Meh, doesn't matter. It seems apparent that Modern Warfare is coming to Wii in some fashion, be it the original or the new one.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Well I wouldn't be surprised if true. I mean with all the Call of Duty hype for the 2nd Modern Warfare, there are going to be Wii only gamers going in looking for something similar. And if Activision has something like this out they can say it's not that but it is Call of Duty and get some sales. That's actually how Call of Duty 3 stayed alive. I'd say it's a pretty good idea. A lazy way of doing it but it bodes well for a possibility of better support.

But this is really bad for The Conduit if true which would have been that game that would have been suggested as the "Call of Duty" esque shooter to get when the hype was there. Was even more open after Red Steel 2 got pushed back.

We'll see how this unravels but I think this is a great idea by Activision to further try and build up a fan base for the series on the Wii.

Developing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare required Infinity Ward, and they wouldn't develop for the Wii (and they won't do it again with the sequel, I imagine). However, porting a 2 year old version of the game? Any stupid team can do that. They don't need Infinity Ward for it, and that's why we're seeing it now. Activision doesn't want to miss out on the Wii's CoD cash cow, but they're not going to force Infinity Ward to develop anything that they don't want to (at least, I would imagine).

If you heard information about MW on the Wii i would think that most would assume that it was in fact the new game (MW2). You'd have to think that if they were told it was in fact the first Modern Warfare they would have confirmed what would reflexively seem the less likely information before publishing it.

Either way we'll find out tomorrow.

Well, rumor had it that Infinity Ward was developing Modern Warfare 2 for the Wii. But seeing as how Treyarch is doing this one I don't think Kotaku can possibly be mixing them up.

Also, wouldn't it make sense to release Modern Warfare 1 before releasing Modern Warfare 2?

No, because then you'll have to release every previous game in the series on the suceeding console. Thats like saying:

"Oh, Super Mario Kart, MK64, and MKDD must be released on Wii before MKWii"
or
"Halo 1 and Halo 2 must be released on the 360 before Halo 3 comes out"
or
"MW1 must come out on Wii before MW2 comes out".

It simply doesn't make sense. You DO NOT need to por the previous game over.

@blackbird3216
Well thats why Nintendo released Pikimin 1 and 2 on the Wii.

Of course maybe Activision had it the whole time and they are just now releasing it in order to take advantage of the hype for the sequel.

I would like to think that it is MW2 but Kotaku confirmed with an Activision rep that it wasnt coming to Wii.

So I would bet that its MW1. But again....we have to wait to know for sure.
