Pes 2008 !! maybe 3/4 millions on PS3!! In france we will have a bundle PS3+ PES 2008 for 429€, so i think it will sell very well! ( sorry for my english lol)

Most PES lovers already own a PS2 (or they play on their PC), so I don't think PES will push that many PS3... And the PS2+PES bundle is going to be 160€ only, so don't expect many football lovers to fork out 430€ to play it.

I don't think there is a PS2+PES 08 bundle. Can you show a link?

I saw it in a french retailer (fnac.fr) and in a Portuguese news website too. It would be pretty surprising if there wasn't such a bundle in the first place...

I think killzone 2 has an outside shot, although it will almost certainly eventually hit 1 million. If MGS4 comes out in Q1 '08 as anticipated then it will probably be the next PS3 million seller and perhaps the first million seller in a single region (it's amazing to me that the PS3 doesn't have any single-region million sellers nor any million sellers that weren't bundled with the system at one point).
 Resistance was bundled?

Heavenly Sword - 200k in one month one market, add bundle sales it could pass 1 million this year.

R&C5 - for sure thanks to loyal Insomiacs fanbase and well known quality Ratchet franchise.

Uncharted - Has they hype, the right developer behind it and should get the marketing.

Haze - wild card, could be huge could be a flop.

Call of Duty 4 - will smash the one million mark very quickly.

If it comes out in 07, UT3 would surpass 1 million easily.

I think that it is right timt to revieve this thread as recent sales figures shine a new light on the subject.

I assembled most titles mentioned in the thread and here is the list of games people thought to break a million:
Everybody's golf 5, Grand Turismo 5 Prologue, Haze, Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Assasin Creed, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy XIII, Uncharted, Killzone, 2, Little Big Planet, Devil May Cry 4, Pro Evolution Soccer 08, Fifa 08, Madden 08, Elder Scrolls 4, Singstar, Guitar Hero 3, Eye of Judgement, Lair, SOCOM, Call of Duty 4.

The title which has the biggest chance is in my opinion Call of Duty 4, with great debut (179k) in USA and also in UK. It can made 600k to the end of year in America alone so with the help of Europe in can break a million this year.

Some titles mentioned seem to have little or none chance of being 3rd million seller: Heavenly Sword (its numbers have been lowered in America, it didn't sold spectacular in Europe and Japan retailers preordered only 30k), Warhawk (almost non-existant in European charts and only 150k in USA, however it's hard to judge online sales), Lair (non-existant in European charts and only 150k in USA) and Eye of Judgment (sales way below expectations).

Footbal games performed (PES, Fifa) well on European charts being on top for several weeks. PS3 version was in most terretories behind PS2 version but ahead of Xbox 360 version. But no real numbers were given for Europe, so it's hard to judge how far to million units sold those 2 titles are.

Ratchet and Clank after 3 weeks sold 180k. It's not bad but CoD did the same in 1 week. Ratchet may be at around 400k in America at the end of the year and it won't be enough to be a million seller as it debuted with only 11k in Japan. I still think Ratchet will break a million but not as a 3rd PS3 title.

My vote goes to Uncharted. It's a great game that's coming out at the perfect time.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Uncharted maybe? More likely Prologhe, good selling franchise in all 3 markets.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

GH3 gets my vote.

Some new data about European sales apperad on site. CoD4 is at 0.33 mln so it looks like it's one third way to million in a week time and it still has Christmas ahead of it. Now I'm even more convinced CoD4 will break a million as a 3rd PS3 title.
Also some good sales for football game: Fifa sold 0.41 mln in Europe (with America it has 0.48 mln) and PES 0.36 mln. I assume those are good results especially for PES as it was released 4 weeks later. Also PES is more popular in Japan so it can be a 4th million seller PS3.

Acording to sony 60% of ps3 users have online connectivty. Meaning that those 60% should know about all the games coming out. So about 3million gamers are waiting for the great game. Im suprised resistance still hasnt hit 2 million(according to vgchartz... )

cod4
PES
warhawk(its only $39.99 should expand online comunity)
R&C
MGS4
LBP(it plays like super mario world..)
KZ2(if reviews are 9.0+)

Still, some mutliplatform owners may prefer the PS3 version, the XBox 360 version is wired and the Wii version isn't HD. I don't know if Guitar Hero makes good use of the PS3's highend audio capabilities, but if it does, considering this is an audio game it may be another reason to prefer the PS3 version.

"The next big difference comes in the bundled guitar, which is wireless for all versions and modeled after Gibson's classic Les Paul. The Wii edition of the game includes a unique axe that actually incorporates the Wii remote into its body, while the PS3 version is exactly the same as the 360 guitar--although it requires a USB dongle for some reason, and apparently does not use the PS3's built-in Bluetooth functionality."

"Though all this matchmaking functionality has become fairly standard on Xbox Live, it certainly hasn't been present in a Wii title up to this point, to this extent. In fact, this commendable effort by Vicarious Visions brings the Wii's online component above and beyond the PS3 version's matchmaking system--because it just doesn't have one. Other than playing random matches through a lobby, there's absolutely no option on the PS3 rendition of Guitar Hero III to challenge specific players to matches. While Sony is largely to blame for this with its shoddy online service--as the PlayStation Network provides no in-game implementation whatsoever of online community functionality--it surely could have been implemented, as seen by the work Vicarious did on the Wii version. As it stands, you'll have to find your friends in a server browser."

"Bottom line is, if you own a 360, you'll want to get that version of Guitar Hero III. And since Harmonix's Rock Band only includes one wired guitar in its 360 bundle, you'll already have a wireless one ready for your band's bass player if you buy that game's bundle as well. Choosing between the PS3 and Wii version comes down to whether you want the friends-based online functionality of the Wii version or can live with the PS3 version's bare bones online features, as long as you can grab new songs as downloadable content. But even this PS3 feature has a caveat: Neversoft studio director Scott Pease told me he wasn't sure the company would be able to deliver songs on the PlayStation Network in as timely a manner as on Xbox Live Marketplace."
