PS2 dominated last gen. Xbox and Gamecude just like a trash compared to PS2. But everything change this gen. Both Microsoft and Nintendo learn lesson from Sony. Sony become arrogant and they think they can win this gen easily and repeated Microsoft and Nintendo fault.
PS2 - Cheapest console. most support from 3rd developer, released earlier, sold with profit
XBOX - Most expensive, less support from 3rd developer and bad 1st party games, came out too late, sold at lost
Gamecube - 2nd most expensive, least support from 3rd develper but got nice 1st party games, sold with profit
Now
PS3 - overpriced, released too late, less support from 3rd developer (compared to X360) but got very nice 1st party games, massive lost each unit sold, free online (worse than XBL)
X360 - Nice price, released 1 year earlier, great support from 3rd developer and 1st party games are quite nice (not as good as PS3), sold with loss at launch but now with some profit, best online (require fee), lots of problem
Wii - cheapest, least support from 3rd developer but excellent 1st party developer, print money since launch, online suck
