A focus on the community, reviving off topic again, and mote important :

I know it takes longer to release the weekly numbers, but I don't even know or even care when those number show up anymore. All I remember was Monday night 400 strong members used to show up and discuss numbers, now that's gone. In short, schedule it even if it's at the end of the week.

I personally think that the Off-Topic discussion is the best it ever has been. But, then, that's because I have a big interest in politics/economics. Perhaps a few more light humour threads could be made, but sure as hell ain't gonna do it - people don't appreciate my humour.

I agree with your second statement, though, I also think that a big cause of the death of these discussions is that the numbers are boring. Damned recession, nothing ever happens quickly. I remember last year, consoles were hitting major milestones quite frequently, not so much anymore. Perhaps ioi should start throwing more spanners in the works, major adjustments will get interest going again.

If that seems somewhat immoral, just think: WWFD (What would Fox do?)

I don't mind political humor at all, it's just that most of those threads are anti Obama threads and they are usually very serious. And onemore thing, NJ5 created a terrific thread yesterday, but it died quicly because 50 people decided to create a thread about the ps3 Slim, there are too many threads created all the times, and it kills the good ones.

I think a big thing for credibility would be changing our name to Vgcharts. The "Z" demographic is more reserved for Ubisoft and the Xtreme sports drinks.

Additionally, we have to cover big sales events and continue to gain references from big media sources. Those definitely help. Besides that, there isn't too much we can do to get rid of detractors.

I came to the site for the community mostly. I think we have one of the best out there, and what makes some conversations better is the inclusion of sales numbers which can easily be accessed through the amazing game database (and the weekly sales data, which I love). Plus, it's all user-generated content in there most of the time (sure, it's moderated, but still...).

I think creating separate sites would kill this little plus the site has over other ones. VGC works as a whole. While the main team provides numbers/reviews, users provide a good amount of content for the site as well. It's all about recognition I think, and maybe putting the forums on the spotlight more would make the site grow even more.

By the way, I didn't follow the conversation until now, but I just felt like throwing my two cents in here. ;)

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I think it is too late now to change back to VGCharts - although it would be a pretty big publicity stunt!

If you don't mind me asking, why not? I know our name is very widespread now, but it's only a one letter difference.

VgChartxxx?

For me...

* Sales information (fun to see how each company is doing and how games are selling)
* Games database so that I can keep track of my collection somewhere other then home for insurance purposes
* The community. Forums, 360/PS3 gamer leagues

What I don't use nor care about here...

* News (N4G, GameGrep, Kotaku, etc. not here though - I would suggest sticking to sales related news rather then delving into generic announcements and rumours)
* Reviews (I go to Metacritic, gamerankings or gaming forums to make my decisions. And on each console I own I have favourite sites)

I used to really like the prediction league, then it changed and it seems to have disappearred.

One of the problems that has reduced my visiting of this site is that IE8 and this site aren't get along as well as they could. Also, to me, the site is too cluttered and doesn't focus on what seems to be the core business diseminating sales information... (It should be front and left rather then right and having to scroll to see what I really want to see...)

I came for the sales data and stayed for the forums but since VGC 2.0 I cant enter on my Wii and the site is very slow in the main page thats a problem that required an answer.

It would also possibly lower the female to male ratio on the site even more. x.o

When you have pornography, who cares?
