Forums - Nintendo - New Wiiware game revealed Grotesque Tactics (SRPG)

August 3, 2009 - German developer Silent Dreams is prepping a tactical role-playing game called Grotesque Tactics for WiiWare. Players control a fresh military recruit who fails the academy exam and must recruit an army of monsters and women in order to defeat the Dark Church. Along the way players will encounter half-naked virgins in the clutches of evil, and if rescued they will follow you as your groupies. Silent Dreams compares the gameplay to Disgaea, Fire Emblem, or Final Fantasy Tactics. There will also be dialogue riddles a la Monkey Island.

Finally, Silent Dreams claims to have produced the funniest animation ever seen in an RPG.

"The digital market of Wii is perfect for independent developers like us," says a Silent Dreams representative. "Grotesque Tactics is going to be one of the most beautiful but also one of the most enjoyable WiiWare games. Tactical RPGs have a big tradition on Nintendo platforms and are extremely popular. We would like to bring some fresh air in the tactical RPG genre. Our experience and passion for RPGs is in good hands in the Nintendo community."

Contrary to its title, Grotesque Tactics should be a light-hearted and comical adventure.

Look for Grotesque Tactics late this year.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

Eternal Poison had a very eerie and very nice goth theme going for it.

This game... just looks emo.

I love sRPGs, but I'm not getting good vibrations from this game.
