While they don't have Player's Choice, the price is dropping on some of their titles.

SMG is $40, not $50 for example.

really? i woudn't think they'ed do that.

Nintendo hasn't dropped the price, just some retailers.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

Has Nintendo ever had that? I can't remember anything like that during the N64 era or earlier, so if there was, it would have had to be during the Gamecube days.

Iwata sez: It's unfair to the early adopters.

Even though that's probably not their reason, it is true.

No it's not. Price is also determined by time. If you want to get the game now, you ahve to pay full price. If you can wait for a year, the value isn't the same anymore and it is fine to buy it for less money. That's really basic economics. @Killergran: Player's Choice existed during the GC era. Those games had silver covers instead of black ones. I thought it existed also during the N64 era in some form, but I'm not sure about that.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

^^Exactly, it is perfectly fair. You make the investment and you accept the pros and cons.

I thought it started during the N64 era, but it goes way back.

Ok. Thanks for the info.

maybe one day, right before the launch of Wii 2 or DS2 to clear stock

I think it's better for 3rd parties that Nintendo doesn't drop the prices of their games. Because if 1st pary games were cheaper most 3rd party games wouldn't have a chance to sell at all, cause all they have to compete against Nintendo is better prices.

Let me give you an example: WarioWare Smooth Moves is still $50, if it were a player's choice at $20 games like Raving Rabbids and other party games would have a very tough time at retail. As it is now, you could buy Okami & MadWorld for $20 each and save 10 bucks instead of buying super paper mario for $50

First party software just sells like crazy
