Yep, if Natal has a USB interface, then theoretically, any device with USB inputs could use gesture control or voice control provided by Natal. |

Very possible, especially considering that you can put Linux on the PS3.

Hadn't thought of that! But I guess if its USB and truly open then it could be possible. If it happens we'll all get to use the word 'ironic' a great deal for a while.
I still tend to view the camera angle (EyeToy too) as more of an interface input vs having some form of controller such as the Wiimote - but I am curious to see what developers make of Natal and the presumerably about to be relauched EyeToy (plus wand).
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
Although you may be able to plug Natal hardware into your PS3 I think you are going to be slightly dissapointed by the support you will receive.

What am I trying to do exactly?
I don't believe that Microsoft are going to try and make NATAL a gaming platform on the PC, as to me that just doesn't seem logical. Most PC / laptop set ups are in small space environments - due to the nature of needing to reach a mouse / keyboard and typing. Judging from E3 it takes a sizeable space for one person to use NATAL, let alone multiplayer.
The NATAL technology clearly has appeal far beyond gaming applications, my view is that their PC approach will be aimed at the business sector to use the technology for the aforementioned video conferencing, presentations and such like. If anything I think NATAL is going to be used to try and get more households to use the Xbox 360 as a PC - making it more accessible for family to check emails, browse the internet and so forth.
There is no issue here.
Remember what the XBox is. It's a counter-disruption to the playstation. It's primary existence is to protect the PC platform by making PC to games console development more appealing to developers, which helps keep developers working with Microsoft overall. Profit is secondary.
Then remember what Natal is. It's a counter disruption to the Nintendo Wii (protecting the XBox, and the PC indirectly).
From this perspective, you can see why it's important that anything that happens for the XBox, has to happen for the PC too. Keeping the platforms as close as possible is in the interest of developers, thus in the interest of Microsoft.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
The problem with your thinking S.T.A.G.E. is that your thinking is one dimensinal. How stupid to think that Natal should only be restricted to console use. Why would ANYONE use this technology only for a video game console, get a grip on life. This camera is for so much more, and should be used accordingly; having it for Xbox 360 use is only a bonus to console owners, and innovation in the industry, not a one stop shop.
