Well there are some good points in the article, I think the major point is that whenever someone says anything remotely unpositive about the Wii they are dismissed as bashing the console.
The sales are down, Nintendos shares are WAY down and the market is reacting to what they percieve to be a threat for Nintendos long term growth.
This is something that people should be thinking about, rather than fiddling whilst Rome is burning. (so to speak). Like the article says, the Wiis drop is unprecedented and its not like the console itself is unaffordable when its $250 and comes with a really compelling piece of software out of the box.
Tease.

Well, in this case, I do seem to know more than this jornalist, who seems to be pretty oblivious to the significance of WSR and doesn't even seem to realize that NSMBWii and Wii Fit Plus are coming out. These were big games publicized at E3. To ignore them in an article which opens suggesting that the Wii has no big-selling games on the horizon is fairly poor journalism.
Reggie said he "reads the forums too" - so the President of NOA doesn't seem to think such things mean 'diddly squat to Nintendo'
And who are you calling a 'random kid'?

Hopes that growth might be driven by Wii Music — the brainchild of Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s leading game designer — were dashed. The musical instrument simulator was too simplistic, drew the scorn of critics and badly damaged Mr Miyamoto’s reputation for infallibility. |
This's the only part of the article that I think it's inacurate. Miyamoto has done bad games in the past (Donkey Kong 3, Devil World, Yoshi's Safari, Doshin the Giant), he isn't infallible. But the great thing about him is that he simple leaves the bad experiences in the past, not like modern developers that keep crying for months because their games are bad (Cough, cough... Dyack)

Dude wii is selling better than ps2 and DS at the same timeframe. ( what I mean if they were
releashed at the same time) When the wii is fiscontine the PS2 will be the 3rd best
selling console of all time yes I"m includeing the DS. Now for wii being #1 no that will not happen
next gen is going to start in 2011-2012. Unless somhow the wii still sell how it does the DS
is basically a Gameboy lasting about a decade ad killing strounger oppnents
All data gathered was from this epic chart

First off, Reggie says he reads the forums, but I guarantee you that is complete BS. You really think the President of NOA has time to sit around and read internet forums? Secondly, even if he did Reggie is a complete douchebag and knows about as much about gaming as most people know about rocket science. He is an executive and only knows about money. I guarantee you that he doesn't make a single decision regarding how a game is made, only about how to spend money and make more money with those games. Also, I said random kids and uneducated people of which 99% of all the people on forums fall into one of those categories...
The Wii was launched in all three regions close to the same time. The PS2 had over a year between the Japanese and European launches IIRC. However further to that if you switch to weekly sales the Wii is currently selling less than the PS2 was at the same week since launch. Furthermore the comparable PS2 Holiday season looks quite strong at present and theres still a question of if the Wii will get above that line in the near future.
Tease.
@killeryoshis: Haven't looked at that chart for a long time, and now I realize just how bad the Wii drop was. Yes, the Wii is selling a lot better than the PS2, but now we know that unless a miracle happens, Wii will not sell better than the DS.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Although i agree with you wholeheartedly on this point I really don't think this phenomena is unique to Nintendo fans.
I do think calling this "Wii-bashing" is a bit sensationalistic but any good points the author may have had lost are lessened by the manner in which he cherry picks facts about releases for the remainder of the year. To dismiss WSR and to not even mention NSMB Wii or Wii Fit + is not just an oversight, it's selecting facts to support a conclusion, and a headline.
Well I agree for the most part with what the journalist was saying, he wasnm't nescessarily bashing the Wii he was simply commenting on the fact that Nintendo is starting to see a downturn. I think that many posters are over reacting, he never once insulted the Wii or called it an untrue gaming platform or something else offensive. He just said that the Wii is seeing a downturn and he doesn't think that WiiSportsResort will be able to boost hardware sales.
The only part I objected to in the article is the fact that he failed to mention WiiFit+ and NewSuperMarioBrosWii which are both expected to push large amounts of hardware.
