Forums - Gaming - Killzone 2 Engine vs ICE Engine

The KZ2 engine was obviously used in Killzone 2, which is hailed as the best looking console title, while the ICE engine was used in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and will be used in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Which engine do you think is better? What are the pros and cons of each? And are both engines actually only possible on the PS3, or can they run on the 360 as well? What other engines do you think rival it?

I personally love the Killzone 2 engine, I think it's a little bit more powerful and has a lot of potential. The ICE engine dares to use colour, while the Killzone 2 engine has not, but I feel that if they use the same engine in Killzone 3 and add some nice reds and greens and yellows, then it will look spectacular!

I don't think there are any cons with the KZ2 engine, but I noticed some screen tearing and a good amount of texture pop-in in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, but hopefully those problems are fixed in Uncharted 2. And as for running on the 360, I don't actually know if it will; maybe you guys can give your opinions on that.

The only engine that I see that can rival these two engines is the CRY engine, which IMO is better; Crysis is still the best looking game out. But other than that, no other console game looks as good as these games.

Anyways, lets hear your opinions guys!

Around the Network

killzone 2 makes a shitehole like helghan look beutifull so ill go with kz2

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

Haha, great technical analysing "more color","lot of potential"

answer:kz2

But war... war never changes

Well.

Killzone 2 > Uncharted graphically.

Although, Uncharted 2 is already blowing everything away.

Mmmmm... I'll wait for Uncharted 2 to decide.

As for running on 360, they would probably have to be scratched and rebuild from the ground up for 360 since they're both developed to get the best out of the PS3's architecture.
