| shanbcn said: Lol 4 discs for 360? How can you play open world FPS with 4 discs? |
Quite simply actually. Once your done with disc 1 you take it out and insert disc 2, and so forth until you reach disc 4.
Or if your a lucky bastard like me you just install all 4 discs to your hard drive and just play off of one the whole time.
John will get it. He isn't used to the PS3's tech so give him time. He might bitch and complain like he always does with new tech but at least he isn't like Gabe Newell who complains without trying.

Well, perhaps I was a bit edgy, I apologize. |
No need to apologise.
It did seem to me a bit of bias due to the attitude but if that wasn't the case then it's a case of misunderstanding that happens from text on a page not being able to convey how its being said.
Reminds me of that time I sent my Girlfriend a text message.
She thought I was being sarcastic when it said 'die you horrid vapid whore'.

Yes, as far as the different designs go they were extremely different. Crysis had more locales and foliage, etc. then Doom 3. That wasn't my point. When I said Doom 3 was like the Crysis of its day, I meant it was by far, no question the best looking thing for its time, as was(is) Crysis today. |
Yah, got you. Although it's amusing to note that Far Cry (first Crytek engine) really stole a lot of Doom 3's thunder in PC gaming circles when it launched.
Wonder if history will repeat when the first Crytek game hits consoles.
Reading it again I'm also a little stumped by Carmack's comment on the CPU - the PS3 processing power is clearly theoretically higher. Perhaps he meant for the engine's purposes they were essentially the same.
Still, recent comments from id regarding the tech have seriously jarred with their original 'it's going to be the first true, PC, PS3, 360 engine delivering amazing visuals on each'.
As WereKitten says, it now sounds suspiciously like 'PC, no problem, 360, we got that licked... PS3, not quite there yet...'.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
How the hell is the RSX slower if it runs at a faster speed than the GPU in the 360.. 550MHZ vs 500 MHZ?

Isn't this fantastic? The greatest looking game of this generation is running better on the X360!
I hope Bethesda will use Tech 5 for some of their projects. And Splash Damage should too of course.
Not read the previous posts but this will be ugly.
Without reading I am sure somebody has already mentioned the fabulousness of the Blu Ray capacity and how a multi disk with fail and no doubt somebody has mentioned free online play. So it is with fanboy rebuttals, obviously had this been a Sony positive spin the other sides fanbots would of waded in much the same way. This thread was always going to be 90% fanboy and 10% discussion.
